Attach a USB connector to the iPod and plug it into a USB connection on a computer for power, or into a stand alone USB charger plugged into a power strip for electrical power.

Pick up the iPod. Move the "Hold" switch at the top of the iPod to the "Locked" position so that an orange color appears by the switch. Return the switch to the "Unlocked" position.

Repeat this process.

Press and hold the "Home" button and the button at the top right corner together if using a fifth generation iPod, iPod Nano, iPod Mini or iPod with a click wheel.

Press and hold the "Menu" button and the "Play/Pause" button together if using an iPod Touch. Press and hold the "Menu" button and the "OK" button together if using an older iPod.

Continue holding the buttons together until the screen flashes and then displays the iPod name and the Apple logo.

Release the buttons.

Wait as the iPod resets itself and turns itself back on.

Cannot open ipod

Make sure your iPod is fully charged. Sometimes an iPod that isn't fully charged will have problems syncing to your computer.

If it isn't fully charged, plug it into your computer using the USB cord to charge it, or connect it to a power outlet using a wall charger. Charge the iPod device for at least two hours.

Open iTunes and wait for the software to recognize your iPod. Select the iPod name in the left pane. Click the "Check for Updates" button in the right side of the window.

If iTunes finds an update, accept the update and wait for it to install before attempting to sync your computer to the iPod.

Search for iTunes software updates. Itunes sometimes runs into a glitch mid-sync if it is not updated.

Open iTunes and select "Help," "Check for Updates" from the top menu. If iTunes finds an update, select the "Download iTunes" from the popup box that follows, and wait for the program to download.

Follow the step-by-step instructions for installation. Note that this process can take several minutes depending on download speed.
Add Recent Purchases

Transfer purchases through iTunes. Users often run into sync issues if the library on iTunes does not contain the most recent purchases. Plug your iPod into the computer using the USB cord and open iTunes.

Select "File," "Transfer Purchases from iPod." Any new song, movie, podcast or application will sync with your computer and appear in the iTunes library.

Attempt the sync process again. In some cases, you might need to disconnect your iPod and reconnect it before syncing occurs.
Check Software and Ports

Disable newly installed software. According to GeekSquad.com, some software tends to block iTunes from syncing with the iPod.

If any new software is present on your computer, such as new antivirus software, it might be interfering with the sync process. Exact disabling procedures vary by software.

Connect through a different USB port. Apple recommends trying separate USB ports on your computer during the troubleshooting process.

Try a different USB cable.

Perform a soft reset on your iPod. On iPod devices with a center wheel, press and hold the "Center" and "Menu" buttons for 10 seconds until the screen displays the Apple logo. On iPod Touch and iPhone devices, press and hold the "Home" and "Power" buttons instead.

Restart the computer. Apple recommends restarting your computer, reconnecting the iPod and re-launching iTunes to troubleshoot the problem.

Restore your iPod to its original factory settings. The iTunes software will back up your iPod to maintain purchases in the iTunes library.

The restoration process will sync applications back to your iPod.
Be sure to exhaust all other troubleshooting avenues first, as this remedy is the most time-consuming.

I had songs and could listen but i got a new computer and went to charge my shuffel and now when i try to listen theres no music and the light blinks green then orange and no music playes how do i fix

It sounds like you did more than charge your shuffle. You must have also synced it with the iTunes on your new computer. When you synced it with a new computer, it asked you whether you really wanted to delete all of your songs from your iPod, and apparently you answered "Yes".

Copy your songs from your old computer or from your backup of your old computer to your new computer, import them into iTunes and sync again. That will recover your songs.

Turn the i pod on and theres a picture of i tuness on it and the charge cable and its locked ive turned the power off and on and keeps repeating the same problem

That icon is telling you that you need to sync the ipod with your computer.  Download itunes on your computer.  Open up itunes.  Now take the USB cord and plug it in your USB port on your computer.  Take the other end and plug it into the ipod.  A screen on your computer should show up to prompt you to set up the ipod touch.  Just follow the screen instructions.

Frozen screen

First, make sure the lock slider is in the proper position.  I know, obvious, but you'd be surprised how often this happens.
Next, slide the lock slider to locked and then back.  Then press and hold the Menu and Select (center) button for 6-8 seconds.  Try a couple times if it doesn't work the first time.  The ipod should reset and work.
If that didn't work, you can reset your ipod.  But first, try connecting the ipod to your computer and see if it goes into sync mode. If so, wait for iTunes to load and then eject your ipod in iTunes and see if it works again.
To reset your ipod, slide the lock slider to locked and then back.  Next hold the Play/Pause Button and the Menu button for 6-8 seconds.  You may have to try this a couple times.  The ipod should reset.
The last thing to do is to let your ipod discharge completely by leaving it at the frozen screen.  Once your ipod is out of battery, reconnect it to you computer or a power adapter and let it charge.  Then try to access it again or repeat the steps above.
Good luck!
Nick

My ipod nano is frozen

Try pushing down and holding for at least 5 seconds the Menu button and the center Select button, at the same time. This should force your iPod to restart and it should eventually again be discovered in iTunes. Using the Restore option aftwerwards in iTunes is adviceable, at least make sure your iPod has the last version of its software. Good luck!
