Question about Sony VAIO VGN-N365E/B Notebook
I have a sony vaio VGN-N365E. The fan doesn't seem to be on all the time. Sometimes it comes on and I feel warm air coming out of the vent, but usually I hear no fan running when I put my ear up to the bottom of the computer nor do I feel air coming out. I tried to get some information on the sony website with their chat support, but he basically told me to get it serviced. He gave me a link for the sony repair form and the average cost for minor repair is about $300. No way I'm paying that! The cooling system it's self goes for about $10 on ebay. What I need to know is, is my fan malfunctioning based on what I've described? If so, does anyone know where I could get instructions for replacing it myself? Thanks
If it is not getting hot to the touch, then it may not be needing the fan ... it should cycle on and off as needed.
As long as you DO feel the warm air coming out occasionally, and are not experiencing further problems (like lock ups or reboots) then it's probably just fine.
