Problem for Mitsubishi WS-65809 65 in. Rear Projection Television
Ws 65809
ws 65809 wont power up at all Any suggestions to fix this Thanks problem?

- If this is the problem I am having with my tv. Do you think its worth fixing or should I give it up. I hate to spend much on the tv. But, I also hate to buy a new tv. - could the STK392-570 prevent the tv from powering up? when I plug in the tv, it sounds like it is working. But it doesnt power up when I press the power buttom. One of the STK392-570 solder is loose and pretty sure one of the point looks a little burnt. Thanks you so much for the excellent advice.Aug 21, 2009

- what color would the substance look like on the boards? I do see some whitish compound on it. The same stuff i put of the ic's. does the led blink a two digit blink code when you press the menu and device/input buttons both in together for 6 seconds? If so let me know the two digit blink code and i will assist you.

- Does the power led light up when you press power? If it does and you still get no error code, then that means the microprocessor isnt operating, So I would suspect one of the low voltage regulators or possibly a diode which is preventing the set from powering upAug 20, 2009

- They are located on the board located on the far right looking in the rear of the set. They are just small Glass axial fuses.Aug 21, 2009
- Yes the STK392-570 can definately prevent the set from working and if its loose that may very well be the problem as the IC could be shorted due to its being loose.Aug 21, 2009

- I would try removing both the ICs then try powering up the set. With the ICs removed the set should power up if the ICs are the cause of the set being dead.Aug 24, 2009
- If that doesnt let the set power up. The next thing I would check is to see if you can see any sign of CRT coolant that may have dripped onto the boards as that is a very common fault as well in that model. The CRT coolant may appear as a stickly pasty substance on the boards a strong flashlight held on a angle will usually show signs of coolant leakage.Aug 24, 2009
- Its colorless its appears as a sticky pasty residule. If a mitsubishi has sound but no picture its a vertical failure most likely. The vertical IC may need to be simply resoldered.Aug 28, 2009
