Can I install microsoft office 2007 home and student on my computer with windows xp and 248mb of ram

You should have at least 256 MB of RAM to run Office 2007. It might run with 248 MB (did you mean to type 2048?), but it will be very slow; you would have to be very patient.
You can use Windows XP, you just have to make sure you're running at least service pack 2.

hi firstly, the only way to increase your video card memory will be to purchase a pci-e graphics card for your system, system memory could do with putting up if you are playing games as that amount will just about run windows itself, if you have an onboard graphics card these are not very good to play top end games like COD MW2, and things like that, get a 1 gb graphics card for your system this should play 99% of all games out there, and as i said get more system memory at least 2gb ddr2 is what you need especially as you have a dual core this will help you allot, there is a site that has very good priced graphic cards try them hope this i am a gamer myself..

For XP, it is recomended to have at least 1 GB of RAM to run it properly. It will run with a minimum of 512 MB of RAM, but very slow.

windows xp uses virtual memory which is a partition on your hard drive. do a defrag on your hard drive. where your windows parameters is located, make sure virtual memory is set to automatic. if you can afford it increase your on board RAM to at least 512.
