Question about Eureka Altima Upright Vacuum Model 2996AVS Vacuum

1 Answer

Dirt not going in to the right "chamber"

The vacuum is collecting the dirt in the tube and not into the removable chamber. We can't find the directions anymore, and we can't figure out what may be wrong! It's practically brand new so we know that it doesn't need a new belt, and it shouldn't be super clogged anywhere. Any advice??

Hello. i can help you. here is your link to a free replacement manual

also, check the hose to make sure that a foreign object isn't blocking airflow. Next, make sure the airflow switch is set correctly. Many models have a switch that changes the suction from the main vacuum to the hose attachment.

Hoover troubleshooting

Hello! The umbrella tube is a stationary part, it does not rotate. The dirt that enters in the dirt cup spins around the umbrella tube. If no dirt is entering into the dirt cup this can mean there is a blockage either in your hoses and/or your filters. Try these quick trouble shooting steps below.

1. Remove the dirt cup canister from the vacuum. Twist off the dirt cup lid.
2. Remove the primary foam filter. Hold filter under running water until water runs clear. Allow 24 hours to air dry. If the filter is really dirty it may need to be replaced.
3. Slide the Hepa filter out. Tap the filter against the trash can until dirt stops falling. Replace the Hepa filter. (Do not wash)
4. Remove the hose from both ends. Use a broom stick to gently loosen and clear any clogs from hose.
5. Use a wooden spoon or something similar to loosen and remove any clogs from the lower hose. Hope this helps!

Bissell powertrak revolution dirt not going into cup

If the unit is not blocked between pickup and filter have a good look at the filter to see if air is passing through it---paper throwaway or foam filter the can be washed?

The ones that can be washed etc will have instructions right on them.

VACCUUM SEEMS TOOST SOME OF ITS SUCTION POWER

How often have you changed the filters in the vacuum?-- and when was the last time you did it now?

Obviously emptying the dirt collecting chamber OFTEN helps the vacuum--
but then in addition, there are several filters-- are they clean?

Pull them out, tap and otherwise shake the dirt loose from them, until they are clean--
(Compressed air is great for this-- but you might not have that nearby, right?)
Do yo have another vacuum that might help you clean up the filters?
Or-- maybe it is time to replace all the filters?

Let us know how successful your efforts on the above turn out.

Dirt is being trapped in the filter area instead of canister.

The canister has a filter as well. It needs to be replaced or cleaned. A damaged canister filter will feed dirt into the HEPA filter. (and the motor)
An improperly installed filter can allow dirt to bypass the canister filter and collect in the HEPA filter.
I suggest a new canister filter and then clean it carefully every week.
Here is a list of the filters for your vacuum.

Clogged sweeper filters changed and hose cleaned, but no dirt collecting in the bag. I am no sure what do do next

You have a rubber flap in the dust collection bin that may have been pulled out causing the collection bin to close when vacuum tries to pass through. Try pushing the flap back in to see if that's the cause of your vacuum loss. To test if this is the cause try turning the cleaner on and feel the outlet leading into the removable bin to see if there is any air flow. If there is no air flow, unplug the vac and run a coat hanger through the inlet tube to find and clear any obstructions. Then take the vacuum outdoors, plug it in and turn it on to clear any dust or debris left in the vacuum chamber.

No dirt is collecting in chamber and doesnt seem to be picking up

the hose is clogged. try sucking the dirt out with another vacuum (backward) If this doesnt work, you will have to disconnedt one or the other or both ends of the hose to remove the clog. this is a simple process.

Bissell powerforce bagless vacuum, when turned on dust flies out sweeper

Dust flying out of the sweeper indicates that their is a blockage in the pathway that the dirt normally travels to get into the dirt collection chamber. Turn the sweeper upside down and look for a blockage of some kind. Also, empty out the canister and look to see that the pathway into the canister is clear.
