Question about Microsoft Xbox Console
They will not tell me whats wrong
they just want me to send it in for repair
if anyone knows whats wrong
This is because the hard drive timed out according to this explanation of xBox error codes. First try restarting the system to see if it was a strange out of the ordinary occurrence. Next, try cracking it open and reseating the IDE cable in the hard drive and the dvd drive (because they are both along the same cable). You may also wish to blow out the inside of your xBox with an air compressor. To get the Hard drive and DVD drive out, you need to remove the single small screw in the plastic caddy of the hard drive, then remove the IDE cable and power cable (the power cable can be removed far more easily with some needle nose plyers.) and do the same with the optical drive (only this time you won't need any additional tools), and blow all the dust out of the inside of the unit (and the ends of the ide cables). Now, put the drives back in and try starting it up. If it worked, congratulations! If you got any other error number from 7-12, try reseating the cables again. This should work 99 percent of the time.
