I have a toshiba television and across the top of the screen and about 3 inches down I have white lines it distorts the pictures and words at the top -any ideas? thanks

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence


These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. go to the vertical section n change caps like 100uf, 2.2uf around the section in addtion check some caps in the line o/put like 22uf 250v

Same thing happened to me but it was my cox hdtv/dvr box, I exchanged it and it resolved the problem.

You have bad capacitors and possibly a vertical IC that is going bad. And check for bad grounds in and around the IC and caps!

It is a calibration problem, let me see if I can find some schematics for your tv.
