I'm replacaing the pull start as the previous one broke. I also want to change the flywheel. Not sure if it's a left hand or right hand thread, don't want to shear the bolt off!

if it has a kill switch make sure it is on, check that you are getting spark at the plug and have the right fuel in the motor.
Remove the air filter from the carbi and squirt some 2 stroke fuel directly into the throat of the carbi and try to start it.

you don't half to change the oil it takes a oil fuel mixture like a chainsaw or a weed-eater

take of the pull starter and look at the cog and pull the rope and if the cog pops up then its fine

Since this is covered under warranty do NOT attempt any repairs, if you tamper with the engine in any way you will void the warranty. Return it to the company that sold it to you for repair. Based on what you say you most likely have a fuel delivery problem, it is to rich, that means the engine is getting to much fuel, this causes the engine to flood out, the other possibility is the engine has poor compression.
