Electric PTO on 1500 series Cub Cadet won't engagewithengine hot

The electric PTO on my 1500 series Cub Cadet stops engaging when the engine gets hot. It first starts as delay between the time I operate the switch and the mower starting. Then it won't engage at all. I can shut the engine off for 5 minutes or so and it will work for a while. Then it won't engage again

I have a 2002 1500 series cub that had the same problem.
What it sounds like is the PTO switch, possably just the wire being burned in half.

After reverse, my cub cadet zero turn mower pto will not re engage the blades. sporadic up to the point of stopping altogether. is it the switch or clutch?

I would guess it is the switch. My Cub Cadet has a safety feature where the blades (PTO) stop when you hit reverse. There is an override where you turn the key back about a quarter turn or so and hit a button right above the key to make the blades run even in reverse. Therefore, I would guess the ignition switch is the problem but I can't be certain. Or it could be the electric switch that engages the PTO.

Pto not engage when hot

Is the pto electric? if so it may hav excessive clearance between the clutches because of wear which would cause it not to be able to engage when hot

PTO switch shuts down tractor

if the pto bearing is locked up it will stop a motor dead this is a common problem. You will have to get a new clutch assemble. The other thing that it could be is the deck has a locked up spindle.

Cub cadet dead as a door nail

I have the same mower. The wires do need to be connected. It is a safety feature on the cubs. The engine will not start if the electric PTO is engaged. I just went into the garage, pulled the pto lever out to engage, pushed down brake, tried to start and it would not start. I suggest reattatching the wires and trying it. Hope this helps.

Engine stalls when electric PTO clutch is engaged

check your spacers to be sure you havent locked the clutch assembly directly to the motor shaft
you should be able to turn it fairly free less some clutch drag
