Started a load of clothes and it filled up with water. Why wouldn't it do anything else?

you will have to drain the water out by hand or by lowering the drain hose to the floor and letting the water pour into a bucket. Once you have it empty, tilt the washer back and remove the pump, you mostlikely have something in there stuck. That washer sometimes runs the drain motor when its trying to sense the load.

This issue calls siphoning effect. It happens when the drain hose was somehow lower or not stand vertically. It causes no air pressure column in the drain hose to keep the water out. Check the drain hose and make sure it is high enough. Try to hold the drain hose straight up and see if it is happened before having further inspection.

Leaking water when filling and leaking lubricant on floor under washer

Sounds like symptoms of transmission going out, especially the seal. It is not cheap or easy to fix. Best bet is to look for a new or used washer.

My Whirlpool calypso top loading washer poured water from underneath, water everywhere, what do I do and how do I do it?? No codes showed up. Thanks for any info. Rose

Sounds like the seals & gaskets have failed. If you removed the wash plate trying to unjam the washer and did not also replace the gasket kit, you may have violated the integrity of the water tight seals. However, sometimes also the fabric softener dispenser especially, gets clogged and may overflow and leak if the tubes are clogged with coagulated fabric softener. As I am writing this, my washer's fabric softener dispenser is clogged and the method I use to clear it has not worked this time - a cup of boiling water to melt the congealed fabric softener. One has to open the top lid (method varies by Calypso model - Whirlpool or Kenmore) to get to the dispenser tubing and reservoir underneath to get things flowing again, and in fact I have a small water leak on the floor where the dispenser overflowed a bit. That you have a leak, if it happens to come from such a clog, at least gives you a sign that your dispenser solenoids are not malfunctioning, requiring replacement of one of the circuit boards.

Water pours out from washer underneath

The most common leak for those washers is from the drain pump a really easy and inexpensive repair. It is located underneath toward the front. To diagnose turn on water to tub fill 1/4 the way, pull out machine about 2 feet, tilt backward, you can use a mirror, I just poke my head under. is should be clearly evident where the leak is. The tools to change the pump it requires a screwdriver and pliers. There are two clips and to hose clamps, remove and replace in reverse order.
