    Same problem. Please help.

  • pinky23 Nov 15, 2007

Camera powers up, lens pops out and the screen says 'access' and remains blank, camera then says switch off. Have tried wacking it but the fault persists.

Oddly enough it still allows access to pictures on the memory card and scrolling through is no problem.

Any suggestions before a really good wack with a hammer ends its life!

like some others,I also am confronted with the infamous 'access' frame together with a lens that pops in and out when it feels like it.Shots on the memory stick can, however, be recalled but only after the camera has instructed me to turn the power off and on again. The camera is reluctant to switch off unless I point the lens down, away from the light.any suggestions?

mine does the exact same thing says access then lens go crazy then it says turn power off and on again. HELP!!!!!!!

  • Frusturated Aug 10, 2008

I noticed the suggested solution isn't really all that much of one. My camera was completely fine. I had taken pictures with it just recently. The last thing I remember doing is charging the battery like usual. The other day me and a group of friends were gonna head on over to the beach and I thought 'I should bring my camera!' I went to go grab it and when I went to turn it on it started to try and focus itself whilst the screen remained black with the sole message of 'access'. It then proceeded to act like it was possessed and eventually ave me some **** about 'turn off and the turn on again'. I did so...for about an hour in hopes it would actually do something.

I've tried everything I can think of; hooking it up to the computer; taking the memory card in and out, along with the battery..EVERYTHING!

Please help! I don't have the money for repair or a new camera right now, and I prefer the one I -already payed for- any way.

    Same problem.

  • MARCYMARTIN Dec 29, 2008

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. CAMERA WAS WORKING PERFECTLY ONE DAY AND THE NEXT DAY IT WAS POSSESSED. THE LENS KEPT GOING IN AND OUT BY ITSELF, THE LENS COVER WOULD NOT OPEN AND SHUT AUTOMATICALLY AND THEN I GET A STUPID MESSAGE THAT SAYS TURN CAMERA ON AND OFF WHICH I DID FOR THREE DAYS. NO HELP AT ALL. I THINK THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON TO THIS CAMERA. ALTHOUGH I LOVE THE CAMERA, I THINK IT HAS A VERY SHORT LIFE. MINE IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD.

Pls Help Me my Camera Is Power on and "access" and 'power off and on again'. Fiyas(9995540040)

  • vpg3 Dec 30, 2008

I used the camera earlier today, but later the screen showed 'access' when turned on, and the lens moved by itself, after which a message was displayed asking me to turn it off and then restart. The suggested solution has made no difference. Colin

This same thing happened to me a few weeks ago
i looked at some suggestions and people said i should try tapping the lense as it comes out- didn't work, so i basically gave up. But then i tried it just one time today, a few weeks later, and now its working! just keep tapping the lense as it says access to spring the springy things in place.

Replacement of the lens will cost more than the camera is worth. Try these solutions at the following website before deciding to buy a new camera.

It sounds like the circuit board flex has gone bad, It folds back and forth when you zoom the lens, And needs to be replaced by a repair shop and readjusted. Tony

My sony dsc h 50 camera lens keeps going back and forth

Your camera is trying to get your lens to respond the way it should. If the lens is faulty it will keep going in and out. Your only option is to repair the camera by Sony or local camera repair center.

Problem with my Olympus FE-230

When I turn my camera on, the lens goes in and out a few times. Once it's finally on and I look at the screen, everything is blurry. When I take the picture, it's blurry too. If I try to use the zoom to adjust, the lens starts going in and out all crazy and won't adjust right.

I dropped my camera while it was on and the lens was extended. And I dropped it right on the lens. And now when I turn the camra off, the lens does not go back inside the camera. Everything else is fine,...

if the cams making grinding or crunching noise the lens housing gears are broke. repair usually not very economical. about 80% the cost of cam when you bought it.

Digital Camera Fault

ACCESS error could happen when lens gets stuck but if it happens when lens moves back and forth without problem it usually means that where the lens assembly plugs into main system board connection is loose. These connections are held in place by a very small thin fragile plastic clip and a few drops could be enough to snap it but not do any other noticeable damage to camera. Camera would need to be opened to see if clip is broken or maybe cable just needs to me reinserted. Either way only open camera if no longer under warranty and you are somewhat handy

Sony Cybershot 10.1 DSC-N2

DSC N2 :The switch off switch on and "Accessing" message with the beeping was so annoying. As the lens came out, I held it in place and turned the camera off, I could feel the motoor pulling (three times ) and gently resisted the retraction. the camera turned off with the lens out. When I turned it on the problem was resolved (hopefully permanently). €z
