My Sony Bravia XBR4 52" LCD Television developed a thin vertical green/red line varying 1-2 pixels wide which has been growing longer during the past 2 weeks.
The TV was purchased <18 months ago.
I called Sony about this problem 06/21/2009 and they are aware of this problem. My family is upset out this known manufactured defect.
Sony has scheduled a "at home repair" at thier expense. Hopefully they will stand behind their product and dependability. At the moment, I can not find this LCD TV dependable.

You are going to find it is a LCD panel problem. I am sure that they will take care of you. But also realize that this could have happen to any brand of LCD panel and you will probably not have any other panel issues once it is fixed.
