Throttle is not stuck... but engine races out of control after starting....I just bought the vehicle today. The previous owner replaced the piston heads, rings and bearings. It has a 2.5 litre and it's a 1988 jeep comanche.
More than likely if its a fuel injected (multi port on the manifold) than it is the IDle speed sensor on the right side of the throtle body.
Check for vacuum leaks. Make sure intake manifold bolts are tight and gasket is good. Check all vacuum hoses too.
Check engine temp sensor and wires to ecm. ive seen this before ecm thinks the engine is realy cold it can cause this problem.

Have you taken a spark plug out yet? You may have fowled them out. if they are not clean and have a whitish tone to them, then they need to be replaced.

check the injectors on that bank for pulses.. a regular 12v text light will do it should flash when cranking... its very possible that the crank sensor or camshaft sensor on the replacement engine is bad and giving you all the problems you have now.. are you using the original injectors? if you have injector pulses then check the coil for pulses the same way.. btw make sure you have 12v to them even before cranking engine could be a bad asd relay..wet plugs on one bank would also indicate a possible leaking injector and basicly draing the fuel starving the oposite bank for fuel.. to verify that the rail must be lifted by removing all 4 bolts make sure the clips hold the injectors firmly and turn the key to run but dont crank it then look for fuel leakin from bottom of injector(s) any drips is a bad injector..

check the solenoid on the starter it powers the ign for starting then switches to run when you let off key,either the solenoid is bad or a wire to the solenoid has come unhooked and sometime they have an in line fuse which can blow.
