The likely cause is your belt slipping. The reason it is louder when you start is just that...It pulls harder to get the tub rolling and as it gains momentum the belt doesn't have to work as hard. Your belt is worn and will eventually break. When it slips, it is wearing at a greater rate, so you may want to go ahead and replace it.

Model 69822 is less than 8 years old. Screeches loudly for about a minute on startup. Runs fine after that and dries the clothes.

The screeching is probably a slipping belt. This can be caused by"

1. Glazed or worn out belt.
2. Improper belt tension.
3. Overloaded dryer
4. Bad drum bearing

If it is used heavily (often), I would assume #1 which is the cheapest and quickest fix. You can investigate #2 at the time of replacement.

Only thing mechanical on nuker is the cooling fan assembly and /or the turntable platter. Something not turning properly is responsible for screeching noise. And if something is not turning properly there could be a sensor to detect this and shut unit down.

Screeching noise when running the dryer.

Most likely source is the idler pulley. Secondly, is the drum support roller closest to the motor. If the screech is a slower frequency it's likely the roller because the support roller travels at slower speed than idler pulley. Both are replaced by raising top and removing front. Caution: Pull plug before starting and draw diagram of how the belt travels around the idler roller. You will need it to get this back on properly.

There is a hub and bearing that needs to be replaced you will need to have this serviced by a qualified tech. The whole front of the dryer has to come off and the basket needs to be removed.
