Question about Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer

1 Answer

Only Prints Part of the Page

I have a hp photosmart 257xi all-in-one PSC printer. First, I opened the printer's properties (under control panel- printer's default printer), and I tried
printing the test page. That worked fine, and so did printing a document in microsoft works word processor. But it won't print off an online source. I tried printing a recipe, and it looks like the printer blew the recipe to twice it's size, and then couldn't print it.

Can you help? Thanks. Ted

Hi, ted38 here, thanks for the quick reply! This will work for some of my problems, but I just tried printing "my shopping cart" from an online store, and again, it blew the picture up to a way bigger size. Unfortunately, I can't copy a shopping cart and paste it into a word document. (wish I could, though!) Do you have any ideas? Thanks sincerely, Ted

It prints only half a page.... how can i fix that???

Does the print fade out or is the printed page complete, just cropped down? If it is fading out then it is the cartridges running dry, or refilled using the incorrect ink. If it is printing the entire document, just smaller, then under printer properties you can set the page size. (control panel - printers and faxes - right click your printer and select printing preferences) I hope this helps Regards GM

Prints a information sheet after every print i do how do i stop ?

Go to printer under control panel and view properties for that printer, click anything that says default settings.
Is this on one document and application only. Is it the print settings of the document?

I cannot print anything from my printer it prints blank pages how do i troubleshoot

Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Printers
Click with the SECOND (usually the RIGHT) mouse-button on the icon for your printer.
Click Properties
Click "Print Test Page"

If it prints a "blank" page, then either your printer is broken, or it is out of ink.

Take the printer to a qualified technician for trouble-shooting.

Take the test page ( also called : alighnment page ) that always prints when you switch on the printer and place it face down in the scanner.

Then press the scan button on the printer itself.
(this is the button at the bottom of all the buttons on the printer/scanner.)

Make sure that the printer scans the test page.
( sometimes you press the butoon and it doesn't scan )
( it makes a scanning noise when scanning succesfully )

Then it will stop printing the test page ( alignment page ) ever again.

This is a really stupid product feature on HP's part to waste ink and force people to buy more cartriges.

Cannot print with wirelessly networked printer

hi,

if printing from 2 other computer works fine, will i think its not an issue of IP address which changes somehow. but anyways, try to check if you still have other printer drivers under "PRINTERS" (see control panel). it should say HP Photosmart c6100 series. If you also have there a printer icon that says HP Photosmart c6100 series Copy1, try using it (right click on that icon and choose Set as Default Printer). If you only have HP Photosmart c6100 series under PRINTERS, try to right click, then choose properties. When Properties box is open, click on PORTS tab. then click on configure ports below. Try to type in the IP address of the printer under "Printer Name or Host name or IP address". make sure that you already printed network configuration page to get the exact ip address of the printer, Dont know how to print? do this.

PRINTING NETWORK CONFIGURATION PAGE
1. press setup, then scroll down and look for Network.
2. press okay on network, it will give you the first option "VIew network settings".
3. press okay on it, and it will give you the first option "Print network configuration page."
4. choose that and press okay. it will print the network config page. from this document, you will be able to see the IP address of the printer.

Please let me know if the issue is still not resolve so that i can go ahead and give you another possible solution.

Thank you so much.
