Question about Kenmore Refrigerators

3 Answers

We have a new kenmore elite bottom freezer refrigerator and when I attached the water line it began making ice properly, BUT the dispenser for water on the front door also began a slow drip of water. It has a very small catch lip on the front door and I noticed the problem after it made a puddle on the hardwood floor. I turned the water off to avoid the slow constant drip. This means I dont have ice. Can you help and can I fix this myself?

the tech did not correctly read the question-- this has nothing to do with the ice, except that the ice and the water dispenser use the same source. The ice is fine, but if I turn the water source on the front door water dispenser leaks. It has a slow leak that drips on to the floor so I have to turn the water off to keep it from leaking. It has done this since install. It never worked correctly.

    Hotrachet,
Would the water inlet valve be bad when it is brand new- this occurred when first installed??
The refrig is new-- but it took us over a year to build the house and the warranty started when it was delivered and is now over a year old even tho just installed----I purchased all the appliances at one time. I had to take Sears to court to get the rebate due on the appliances and while I got my money after a year-- would just as soon not ever hear their name again. Is this something I can order the part for? and install?

THE PROBLEM MUST BE A STUCK OPEN WATER INLET VALVE, IT IS MOST LIKELY JUST STUCK FROM NOT BEING USED (WHAT U DON'T USE U LOOSE). REPLACE THE VAVLE.

I think your water inlet valve has gone bad. there are two electric solenoids for your fridge. One for the ice maker and the other one is for the dispenser. It appears that there is a leak in the valve or the solenoid may not be completely closing.

Your Kenmore Fridge is new right? why not just contact Kenmore service and tell them that there is something wrong with your unit. It shouldn't cost you a cent if your fridge is still new. If you try to fix your problem yourself, you might end up voiding your warranty...

Hi there,

There are several different reasons that an Ice Maker will stop working. One is that the water valve has gone bad. It is a 120 volt valve that is at the back and bottom of the refrigerator, it is very simple to replace but you need to make sure that is the problem before you replace it. Another thing could be that the heater in the Ice Maker has gone bad, the timer motor could be bad, and there are other reasons but they all are not things that you can replace.

Good Luck!!
Thanks

Water dispenser inside fridge and ice maker in freezer part in bottom both quit working.

There can be many reasons for no water supply. Line feeding the refrigerator is clogged or blocked. The water control valve that turns water to ice maker and dispenser is defective or the water filter located inside your refrigerator is in need of change. I will be here to help you go through the steps. Let me know when you are ready, Thanks, Sea Breeze

make sure the ice maker is turned on, push and hold the little round button on the front for 15 seconda and see if it starts up an cycles. Also check to make sure the fill tube isn't clogged to the ice maker and another thing to check is the water valve.

Water dispencer not working

check inside the bottom of the refrigerator for water, the water line goes thru the back of the refrigerator and it may have cracked and leaking inside instead of going to the dispenser.
if not then water is most likely frozen in the line going thru the back of the refrigerator. look behind the pans in the refrigerator and there should be a coil of clear plastic water line, this is the reservoir that chills the water for the dispenser. sometimes it will freeze up if the refrigerator is very cold.

New Kenmore Elite ice dispenser not working but water is

Should be no longer than 24hrs. Is the freezer good and cold.. has to reach a certain temp before icemaker activates. Might take little longer if you put a lot of warm things in freezer or refrig. when you made the change. Is there any water or ice in the icemaker itself? Water may not be getting to icemaker call them back out if it dont work soon thats what warrantys for :0)
