On board Ethernet adapter

This has been working perfectly well for months; suddenly, it failed and appeared in Device Manager (XP Pro SP2) with the yellow exclamation mark. I have reinstalled the drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the adapater, but no joy. Any ideas welcome.

NFORCE4-939 do I need the ethernet network access manager?

You only need the Ethernet if you want to connect to a network. If you can not get the onboard ethernet to work, you can always use a USB adapter. By the way, have you downloaded the drivers from nVidia?

My Ethernet card doesn't work on my n845wn Intel

It's possible the drivers are not installed.. To check if drivers are properly installed for the Ethernet card, if you have win XP
* go to Start>Control Panel>System> click on Hardware tab, then Device Manager
- once you're on Device Manager, look for network adapter, you should see something like "Via Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter", this is just an example, you may have a different brand of Ethernet adapter
- if you can see the Ethernet Adapter and it has a green icon beside it, it should be working fine, you can also double click on it, to view the Status
- if you don't see the Ethernet Adapter on the list, look under the section "Other Devices", if you see an "Ethernet Controller" on the list with a yellow exclamation point, it means the drivers for the Ethernet Adapter were not installed, which means the drivers has to be re-installed
- you need the manufacturer cd for the drivers

*Now if there's no "Ethernet Controller" on Other Devices section, it's possible the Ethernet card is not being detected by the computer
- you may have to unplug the Ethernet card physically from the computer (computer must be completely turned off) then try to insert the Ethernet card again and boot up the computer, if the computer detects the Ethernet card, you need to install the drivers
- If the computer doesn't detect the Ethernet card, most probably it's busted. You may have to replace it.. You can also try to install the Ethernet card on a different computer just to check if it's really the Ethernet card or the motherboard that's the problem..

No newwork adapters in device manager

OK take a deep breath..those desk support are not IT personeel they just grab them out of burger king and they follow a checklist. Device drivers for xp are stored winnt\system32\ using your friends computer go to the manufacturers website, identify which driver you need by inputting the device name and model. If you cannot find the driver their then try the Microsoft website under XP. If you still can't find it then you may not have a choice but to load a more common network adapter..Once you find it download it to a thumb drive then copy it over to your computer....let me know if you have any questions. Pls rate this solution with 4 diamonds.

USB 2.0 doesn't work on K8MM-V with XP PRO SP2???

ok now the K8MM-V has several 'chipsets' yours has 8 usbs? yes?

then you have the:

VIA VT8237R Chipset...
- Integrated Faster Ethernet LPC
- Integrated Hardware Sound Blaster/Direct Sound AC97 audio
- Ultra DMA 66/100/133 master mode PCI EIDE controller
- Supports 2 Serial ATA ports
- Supports 8 USB2.0 ports

ok? now:

download a new BIOS! this means read the readme.txt please!

<<this is the xp(64bit driver set>> (incase you are missing the 2.0 or yours is corrupt)

this is your BIOS (as i said please follow ALL instructions cause its inportant)

good luck!

after BIOS flash and driver updated go into the control panel > admin. settings > computer managment > device manager then look at the USB section and update the drivers!!

rerstart and volla!

good luck!

Terrible slow internet connection after installing SP2

If you are sure it is a motherboard problem relating to the on board ethernet connection, purchase a PCI slot ethernet card and see if using the card manufacturers drivers are better than the motherboard ethernet drivers. Although i'm not sure how a slow connection is the motherboard problem, it maybe that it's SP2 thats the problem. Have you checked the driver that is used for the onboard ethernet connection, it maybe you need to re-install original motherboard ethernet driver you got with it.
