Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer
This machine has worked great for 5yrs. I think I overloaded it with blankets. I thought the washer was done washing. Went to open the door and it would not open. No error code, as if no power. I can till water is still in the tub. I checked the wall circuit breaker and the plug it is fine. My first thought was the door lock is jammed?? Then a power problem?? I would like to know if there is a manual door release somewhere?
Take out the bleach and softener tray (it just lifts out, angle it a little) and unscrew the 4 bezel screws and take out the bezel. You will find a red or green plastic pull line that is supposed to release the door. You may have to "man-handle" the door a bit and pull hard on the line before it will release. Once you work on the door release mechanism (I had to replace the wax motor again, even though it was the "upgrade" black plunger type) I recommend shooting a little silicon spray on the white plastic moving parts of the locking mechanism to get them to move more easily.
This is true on a Maytag Neptune MAH3000AWW front loading washer. Mine is 11 years old, and had the initial wax motor work done at 7 years.

Pour 2/3 cup of liquid chlorine bleach into the bleach compartment of the dispenser drawer of your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer.
Run your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer on the "Clean Washer" setting. Press "Start" to start the cycle.
Leave the door open once the cycle is complete to allow the inside of your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer to ventilate and air dry.
Look closely at the gray seal of the Maytag Neptune front-loading washer's door opening. This seal can have a buildup of debris or detergent residue.
Spray the seal with an all-purpose appliance cleaner and scrub away any debris or residue with a cloth or scrubbing pad. Dry with a clean cloth.
Remove the soap dispenser drawer. Press the release lever and lift it out to clean.
Take out the inserts and rinse them and the drawer thoroughly.
Wash with a mild soap and cloth to remove any residue. Dry thoroughly before replacing.
