DWL-G710 and DWL-700AP compatibily problem

I can't get DWL-G710 / DWL-700AP combination to work. DWL-G710 regognizes my wireless network in configuration wizard, but when I try to connect to my wireless network my wireless network card can't get DHCP IP address. Could you help me with this problem?

P.S. I have bought these products from Finland and it is possible that you can't give support for them.

Re: DWL-G710 and DWL-700AP compatibily problem

When using the AP you have to make sure you set the SSID, channel & wireless key in the AP the exact same as the router and make sure when configuring the Ap that you set the default gateway as the IP address of the router.

hi r_raiche

1. Take a regular ethernet cable and plug it into the ethernet port of your computer

2. Plug the other end into ethernet port of the DWL-710

3. On your computer (assuming you have Windows XP Pro with the NON-classic start menu), go to Start > My Network Places

4. On the top left under "Network Tasks" click on "View Network Connections"

5. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and then down to "Properties"

6. A pop-up window with 3 tabs should come up. Under the "General" tab, there is a list of icons with checkmarks next to them. Highlight the "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" on and click the "Properties" button underneath

7. Tick "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically"

8. Click on "OK" then "OK" again

9. Open up Firefox (or IE) and type into the URL field

Trouble logging into a D-Link DWL-G710 Wireless

Let me try to get the info straight:

Your computers IP address (manually configured):
D-Link Range Extender IP:

If this is correct, you will need to change your IP to something like:

192.168.0.X (make sure it's not in use on your network already)

otherwise you will not be able to connect to it with your comptuer.

Got a DWL-G710 wireless extender that will not

First I would try a reset, as this extender should would with your default settings of your network.
I would suggest just giving your router a reset. Here are the procedures for your particular router:
Reset Procedure
Step 1 Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the unit.

Step 2 With the unit powered on, press and hold the Reset button.

Step 3 Hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds.

Step 4 Release the Reset button.

Step 5 The unit will reboot. Allow 20-30 seconds before reconnecting.

Step 6 The device is now at factory defaults.

make sure to setup your wireless security again and make sure to set an admin password on your router after the restart.

Ip conflict after setting up dwl-g710, after setting up the extender i cannot access it because my pc reports an ip conflict, any suggestions would be appreaciated

You will get an IP conflict if you have assigned the same IP address on your network devices. Every networking devices should have different network address or IP address. If for example the IP address of your router is, then your wireless expander can be configured as,, and so on but not since it is already being used by the router.

No internet connection via DWL-G710

Your extender may not be able to talk to the router. Make sure you have set default gateway in extender to IP of the router. Turn off encryption first. Check the router if extender shows up in active client list or active mac address list.

Setup range extender

Kolay gelsin.Good By
