Question about Pioneer AVIC-F700BT Car GPS Receiver
I bought a second hand f700bt off ebay and i cant get the gps to work. it wont pick up the satelite siginals. i bought a new antenna but still no luck. i read that they have to be reset to get them to work in a different car but holding the reset button dont work. any other ideas how to reset the gps?
thanks in advance
This may well be worse than you think!
I would suspect that the SIIRF chip or whichever chip is installed is damaged. This is common in many GPS It is not recommended to have them connected at the time of engine starting. An inline fuse must be used on hot wire to help prevent spiking if hard wired
If it is running on DC battery power the I would say battery is too low to recfeive satellites or that it does not have a clear view of the sky.
Usaing an external mouse type antenna usually gets a signal quickly providing it is positioned outside of vehicle with a good ground plane supplied ( center of bonnet or roof)
They should work in any car, they are not car specific. RESET button will not help if chip is damaged. Many second hand ones on ebay are there because they failed, they appear to work well because the screen lights up but they dont always connect!
