Check if your speedo counter is mechanical the is the cable either broken on the gear box side or behind the dash. If is an electronic one then check the electronic speed sensor on the gear box.

Hopefully it is a sensor and not the actual speedometer. To replace the speedometer you will have to buy the entire instrament cluster. A remanufactured one use to run over $1000. One of the few if not only place that is able to repair Audi speedometers is at "2 Bennett Audimotive" 5080 Chiles Road Davis, Ca.(530) 758-7325 www.2bennett.com (It is just west of Sacramento). Have parts store check engine control module for codes. If you have code p0700(trans control module). then likely output speed sensor. If not then likely poor circuit board contacts on instrument cluster.

My 06 ranger is a 4 cyl model and I also am looking for a wiring diagram. Have you checked bulkhead connectors on the firewall for security, corrosion etc.? If you find the schematic on line please post the link. Good luck.

thats exactly what it is, loose grounds. don't bother getting another from a junk yard because it will most likely have the same problem or will eventually do the same thing. Took mine out soldierd the grounds at a few places and has worked ever since. Now if i could just get the stupid a/c to stay on!

I had similar problems with speedos in two 1990 Audi 100s, it was some time ago, but the contacts on the circuit boards on the back of the speedo deteriorate and do not give a good contact. I bought second hand speedos, only to find they had similar problems, eventually it was very easy to fix, I shaved matchsticks to chisel points and pushed them into the circuit boards to add pressure on the contacts and improve connection. After that repair drove the cars for a few years and the problem did not recur. It was a long time ago and I cannot remember exactly where the matchsticks were placed but look for soldered points near the edges of the boards. Regards, Michael

i think vauxhall used the canbust system on this car and you cant cut into the wiring m8 you can buy a repair kit from internet but it might be expensive
