Printer and computer not on speaking terms

I have tried everything to get my printer and computer talking to each other again (literally, I've gone through every single even slightly related troubleshooting guide on my computer and nothing solves the problem). The strangest part is that the computer thinks it is printing just fine. When I try to print something it scrolls through just like printing is going ahead. The printer ALSO shows that it is now printing, but nothing happens. When I try to scan something the printer shows that it is scanning, but then says there's a problem.

This is not all that uncommon...sounds like you have a corrupted printer driver...i would send you a link, but would need to know your printer model# and OS....go to drivers and get the latest driver for your it to your desktop then run it...the new driver will choose all the settings you will need

the printer driver converts computer speak to printer speak. The computer port, printer cable and printer port provide the connection, The printer gives status back to the computer.

SO, depending on what "recognize" means, the printer driver may be corrupt, or the wrong one. The printer connection might be bad, or the printer interface may be bad.

uninstall the printer, reset everything, reinstall a fresh printer driver and try again. If same, check or replace cable and connectors.

If same try connecting the same PC port to another device. If that works it is probably internal to the printer.

My computer shows pics are downloading to my HP A526 photo printer but the printer tells me to insert memory card. What do I do?

Make sure that the printing action is selected only for the right configuration and setting including the format and file type. If the file is too large to be printed it can show up as a error or an insufficient memory to back up. Alternatively you can check with another PC or reinstall the printer once again.

My Dell V505 printer won't print documents from the computer, when I press print the printer prints a page of dash's and ticks. there is ink in the cartridges. i've disconnected the power....

Turn the printer off.
Disconnect the AC power.

On your computer, click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Printers
Select the Dell Printer
Uninstall it
Restart your computer
Turn the printer on
Allow the computer to reinstall the device-device for the printer.
Print a test page.

I re-installed my Lexmark Printer after the Computer Guy cleaned up computer. Now my Lexmark speaks and writes German! I need my English back. I have gone into the Controll Panel to the printer ......

You have to uninstall the printer's software, and re-install it again.
This time, make sure you select the desire language.

Hi. Try these simple steps:

Turn your printer on,
Plug it in the USB port of your computer,
Click Start,
Click Control Panel,
Open Printers,
Right-click your default printer
Left-click "make this printer on-line"
Then try to print a test page...see if that helped!!!

Can't print from computer

Reinstall the printer drivers. (completely remove the old ones first)
Try new drivers from HPs website if need be.

Check the print queue in control panel>printers to make sure nothing is lying in the print queue and blocking your printing.

Make sure that you are printing to the correct printer in the "print" dialogue box that pops up when you go file>print. Sometimes this can revert to "microsoft document printing" or somesuchand just save a file on your hard drive instead of printing (in techie speak, printing does not necessarily mean print out on a bit of paper). Or may the "Print" dialogue box wrongly is pointed at another/old printer that still has drivers installed on your pc when it pops up, check before clicking the "ok" button..

If not, try a new cable, if not, call HP.

sometimes, the wireless connection hiccups(from your router/wireless device) caused by power have that router on a power strip?
