SOURCE: I have a Elna Pro 945 serger. I would like to use

try this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bC-bJE5zwzw&feature=related for movie of a Pfaff piping foot in action, the principal would be similar, you are wrapping bias strip around cording on left of foot and overlocking right side. You can also do this with fabric top and botton thereby inserting the piping as you make it.

I have not tried this technique myself as I've only bought a blind hem foot for my Bernina but must admit I have used that a bit in the past.

Most serging techiques are very similar across the brands.

SOURCE: The presser foot lever on my Elna 945 is

here is a link to the service manual for the 925 http://www.arizonaexpressionz.com/elna_service/925_704%20suppl.%20service%20manual.pdf

I can't see one for the 945 but the above manual may give you some guidance as to what the replacment involves.

945 is a fairly new model so you may find that taking it to a pro and getting the timing and loopers checked at the same time is worthwhile. Also being computerised model, if you get something wrong and the computerised part is affected it could turn out more expensive to then take it to an Elna dealer.

I get my Bernette serger serviced every 2 years and it is now over 19 years old, and still performing well.

I have a white speedylock 234DE serger, I need a power cord for it, where can I find one?

The power cord and the foot pedal are sold as one unit here: https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/foot-control-bernette-singer-riccar-white-411646w.aspx . This is the correct part for the U.S. If you are in a different country, you'll need the appropriate cord for your area. The same foot control and cord works for several other sewing machine, including the Bernette 320 and the Huskylock 901.

I hope this helps. A number of White sewing and serger machines were manufactured by Singer. The manual is available here: https://res.cloudinary.com/singer-sewing/image/upload/fl_attachment/Singer-Website-Library/outdated_product/966_sl-234d_234de-x.pdf .

BL-5180 serger stalls when presser foot is down, will only sew when presser foot is up. What is causing this??

Foot control may have faulty connections in the commutator. It may be possible to disassemble and clean the contacts.

I've just got janome 634d serger, how can i make the bottom of a T-shirt ? Thank you so much

If you want the bottom of the T to look like RTW with the double row of stitching, you cannot do this on a serger.

You can achieve the effect by using a twin needle, two spools of thread, bobbin and a straight stitch.

Make sure the double/twin needle will pass through the presser foot and opening in the needle plate below the presser foot.

Practice on a double layer of a scrap of the T shirt material as the tension may need to be slightly looser than the normal setting.

Serger tension is off and I can't get it adjusted properly. I have a Necchi Lock machine that is 25 years old and it's been a gem. Do you know how to adjust the tension?

Do you still have the instruction manual for the machine? If you do, you get a great big gold star!

Unless this model has auto tension, there should be a tension knob or lever on each thread feed.

Open the tensions (set at zero). No access to the tension controls, raise the presser foot and this will open the tensions, if the controls are okay.

Re-thread the serger and then set the tension controls back to mid-range or lower the presser foot to re-set the auto tension function.

With the presser foot down, stitch a chain of threads and if they do not "knit" as the should - the serger needs to visit a repair shop.

Service for a serger usually begins around $100.

It could be just the timing needs to be adjusted.

If the tension controls need new springs or the controls needs to be replaced, this will add to the repair cost.

White 1600 SpeedyLock. Power, but foot pedal won't engage. Took foot pedal apart, mechanically looks fine-- computer board in there. Do I need a new foot pedal?

When stepping on the foot control, does the motor hum or anything? Or is dead silent? If it sounds like it's trying to do something, the serger probably needs to be serviced. If it's silent, you probably need a new foot control.

I need a replacement manual for Babylock Xscape BL66

You will need to contact a BL dealer to order a manual, if any are available. This model has been replaced.

There is a threading guide in on the inside of the door on the front of the serger.

Raise the presser foot and set the tension controls to zero.

Turn the handwheel until the upper looper (curved looper) is at it's highest point - there may be a mark on the side of the serger and handwheel for aligning to this point.

Thread the upper looper first, then the lower looper, then the needles.

Pull the threads under the presser foot and to the left side of the serger.

Set the tensions back to 4 - 6 setting, lower the presser foot and stitch a chain before serging fabric.

You may be able to find a free manual download at the Brother website for a similar product.
