Question about Gateway Computers & Internet
Shuts down randamly without warning. this has been happending for the past 2 months could not figure out what is wrong. checked for viruses, there are none. bought i last year not under warranty anymore. help someone. i just want to sell it cause i am sure it would cost too much to repair
Check if your laptop is hot on the bottom left corner. If it is hot that means that the cpu thermal past is dry out. I have to sent in to gateway 5 times for the same shut down problem while it was still in warranty. The gateway m-1624 has a poor cooling unit. I hope that help you.

It generally is viruses which causes this and its possible that the virus software you are using to check it is not picking it up. I found that the free versions of AVG and Avast were actually more reliable than Norton. I would use another virus scanner to check this. You could try removing the batterpack and then putting it back-sometimes this seems to work unknown wonders! Other than that I would reinstall windows(after backing everything up)this is generally the quickest cheapest method of getting things sorted.
