old garage door motor finally had to be replaced but I have a keyless remote on outside of garage for kids cant remember how to program it to work with new opener

The odds are the keypad will not work with your new opener. The radio frequency has been changed on the new openers. But if you want to try you just press and immediately release the smart/learn button on the motor unit and then walk over to the keypad and key in your 4 digit code and press enter. These instructions are for a wireless keypad.
