Question about Sega Dreamcast Console

Dreamcast Audio Problem

In certain games, like Shenmue and Tennis 2k2, a loud noise like static or something starts up and won't go away, while many other games play fine. This is with the original game, not a copy. The discs don't seem scratched or damaged. I don't know what it could be and have not found anyone else with this problem anywhere online. Please help!

Re: Dreamcast Audio Problem

Try lubricating the drive and clean the lens with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Then use a dry q-tip to dry up any of the remains of the rubbing alcohol. You'll also need to open up the drive to lubricate it.

It will freeze in the middle of game play a some games not play

I believe your device is overheating, you need to make sure that the Dreamcast is well ventilated, don't set it on a carpet or enclosure. BLow any dust from the unit, pull the Dreamcast out of whatever nook it is sitting in, and set it on a flat surface like a hard cover book, etc. See if your issues resolve themselves.

Freezing problem with Games

The Dreamcast is no longer supported because it was to easy to copy the games, but there are still a loyal few who keep the scene alive. I have no idea how much you want to put into fixing the problem, but the only way to fix your problem is flashing the Dreamcast BIOS.

Modification 101:

The Dreamcast is basically a computer; with the right programming you can do anything; and having a Dreamcast Keyboard is nice.

Black Screen On Start Up!

Please post pictures, and where did it fall out from, and did you put a game in and the turn it on? Maybe it could be the main board being faulty, and might be fried. Please add more details.
