How do I get my clippers to cut?

I bought the Progress cattle and horse clipper set called Endurance clippers last year. This year I tried to clip my minis for spring and the clippers would only cut for about half a swipe then they only pulled the hair. I took them off cleaned and oiled them then tried again. I did this several times. It is probably mw doing something wrong but I have read the book and tried to follow the pictures for blade placement with only frustration. I hope you can help.

Try giving the blade an extra 1/2 a turn of tension, done by turning the red knob 1/2 a turn clockwise. It sounds as though the blades are jamming up which could be a lack of tension.

The power screw is the correct way to adjust the problem you describe. If you have attempted to adjust it as instructed in the user manual and have not had satisfactory results, there may be a problem with the clippers.

How old is your clipper, Oster clippers need to be adjusted for more power and speed, also what clipper blade are you using to cut the horse hair and how long is the horse hair, Also the blade may not be sharp, some new blade are sharp maybe defective.

Oster Golden A5 Clippers will not cut

If the clippers are new, it is not likely that the problem is internal. Sometimes, when the blade is put on the clipper, it needs an extra little push to clip firmly behind the blade catch (you can hear a little click). Try that.

My A5 clipper is not clipping at all.

If the blade mover is going when you turn the clipper on than all you need to do is take the blades apart and clean them well with a Oster spray and then oil them. I would recommend cool lube.

Newbie Clipper needing advice

This is from the Oster book:
Changing Blades
To Remove: IMPORTANT- stop motor; push latch with thumb while lifting blade away from clipper and slide off tongue.
To Replace: turn motor on; insert blade on tongue fully and then snap blade into place.

Note: if the hinge is flush against clipper, lift it up with a screwdriver.

From me - Never take your blades apart to clean them. You can slide them one side to the other to get the hair out. (One little hair, can stop them from cutting.) You need to buy a can of clipper blade cool from oster or andis both are good, and it really helps to lubricate the blade and keep them cool while clipping. If you live near a dog groomer, petsmart or something of the like. Ask them to show you how to remove the blade and I know they will be happy to show you. I tried to submit an image from the book, but I don't know if it will get here or not.

Oster Golden A5 Clippers

try running the blade for a bit keep lubricating in between the blades its important to oil your blades during and after use to avoid rust build up on the cutting surfaces. Also just make sure the blade is engaging onto the clippers ok.
