Question about Saws

1 Answer

Black and Decker 9" variable speed bandsaw. Overworked it and the thermal fuse blew. Documentation said to turn it off and then turn it back on and it would be alright, but it does not turn back on.

Can not locate the fuse. Do not know where it is, but I took a voltage reading across the brushes and I had juice at that point.

Do you have access to the fuse?

    Do you have a multimeter?

Sometimes there's a little reset button on the motor itself, that can be pushed in with a nail punch or something. Look for that....
Otherwise, you may be able to get parts for your machine here, or see a service manual.
Without a model number to work from, I'm afraid I can't offer much more...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

There is no power to the unit, the breaker is on, there is power to the plug, but the unit does not work. The clock is also not on

the thermal fuse has blown.
be careful after replacing it because the reason it blew is probably because the unit overheated which means the thermal switch failed (stayed closed)

Are the thermal fuses near the coil or where the

The thermal fuse should be located near the coil. Usually just below the plate, but that all depends on the model.

I hope this helps! :)

Iron just stopped getting hot

The thermal cutoff device blew and must be replaced. It acts like a fuse when the iron gets too hot. Thay are very cheap and it would be well worth replacing. Hope this was helpful.
