Question about Computers & Internet
I turn the computer on and it brings up a screen saying that recent changes may have been made to the harddrive and it will stay at that. I called gateway and they sent me restore disks but they didnt help i ran the restore and at the second step there was an error. Could anybody help me please?
Try format the harddrive, when it boots up press f2 then in the bios go to where the option is for boot sequence and change to cd rom as first device and reboot with the windows disc(or whatever operating system) and it will load and ask to install but remember to do a full format when you get to this option remembering that you lose all on your harddrive.Alternatively try starting in safe mode after rebooting press f8 i think and work from there and possibly you can undo whatever caused your problem or run windows live onecare free of charge from microsoft to defrag and repair registry errors etc,use weekly or whatever makes you happy.

If you have tried to restore from the restore disks, do you know if it formatted the hard drive yet or not?
Once the format begins and you find that there is an error on the discs (can't read or whatever) then the next step is to either do a clean format or order a new set of discs from the mfg and restore from those.
They are not terribly expensive, but you will have all the drivers already on the restore as opposed to a clean install.
