First, recharge the Reader fully. Then, try a soft reset. To soft reset, just press the RESET button using a sharp-poiunted object. The issue should be resolved. If unfortunately the issue still persist, the reader may require service. Please click here to get it repaired.

Hi vailzamorta!

You can try to do a "Soft Reset" on the Reader. Do not worry, this will not affect your ebooks =)

1. Disconnect the reader from the computer
2. Hit the Reset button at the bottom of the unit for 3 seconds with a paper clip
3. Slide the power switch at the top of the eReader
4. The screen will blink and show opening book.... allow the reader to load

Just in case here are some other steps to try in case this does not make any difference

Hi pmteach4u!

ecause of e-ink technology, sometimes it may appear that the reader is frozen, you can try to reset the reader

1. Disconnect the Reader from the Computer

2. Hit the reset button for 3 seconds at the bottom of the unit with a paper clip

3. Slide the power switch, the screen will blink and will show "Opening Book". Allow the Reader to load.

If the issue still persist, follow the steps on this link:

Sony PSR 300 e-reader frozen screen

since you've tried charging the reader using a non-compatible charger, there might be some internal malfunction occurred in the reader. however, i suggest that you try charging it by connecting it toi the computer. as the yellow ligjht is is blinking, it seems that there is no chrage in the reader. so try charging it by connecting it toi the computer.keep it connected for at least 4 hours. it should resolve the issue.

My sony reader has stopped working. When I click on the icon, a message says that it has stopped working. Then a message appears that says a problem has caused the sony reader to stop working and I will be...

Just spent 2.5 hours figuring on this out with a Mac. Sony customer support was TOTALLY worthless. Finally figured out my PRS-505 firmware was not up to date. This is a problem because there is no indication of a firmware update on the Mac support page since you cannot update the firmware using a Mac. Out of desperation I checked the Windows updates and there it was - the firmware update that was needed to make this work. I took a chance and updated it on Windows 7 using Parallels and it FINALLY WORKS. Days like this I wonder why the hell I gave up paper books. Here hoping that Apple can make a decent tablet so Mac users are not 2nd class citizens in the eBook world. Unh. What a way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Frozen

Try reseting the reader through poking the hole in the back.

If this works let me know ... Also remember to EJECT the device before unplugging.
