SOURCE: Pentair Pool Heater reads HI

I am not sure if you have found the answer to your issue, or not, but just in case. The display showing HI means that the heater is "reading" the water temp at over 114 degrees.

This will go away if you change out the Thermister on the inlet manifold for the heater.

I have a Pentair Mastertemp 250 pool heater with an error message E05. What does this mean?

This is an ignition flame falure code. Could be you don't have gas getting to the pilot, no spark to ignite the pilot or your ignition is not reading the flame. Sorry to say but it's probally time to get the pool guy out to look at it. Good luck.

Wont run, reads "hi", no error code. pool temp is 46F

HI is a code for Water temp over 114. If this is what you have the temp sensor has gone bad. Or thermister. It will be a small tube that slides into the water manifold with two wires coming from it. A white nut sets it in place unscrew this pull out follow the wires to unplug then slip the new one in. This should fix your problem. Good luck.

Minimax pool heater cuts out at 91 degrees when remotely set for

Turn the temp set knobs on the front of the heater all the way up do both pool & spa temp.
If that doesn't help flip the selector switch on the front of the heater the pool temp. This switch doesn't control what heats up Pool or spa it just selects the heater on and which thermistat to use

Won't kick on. The LED reading says HI.

You have a bad hi limit switch. It is located on the top inlet/outlet header under the sheet metal panel. Remove six screws to expose it. The problem lies where the power dies so if you have power going into it and not power coming out of it, it's a problem. Also, they are designed to have a certain amount of resistance, if that value is not right, the heater won't fire.
