Yeah, the condenser fan comes on, but the compressor seems to not run or come on sometimes. Electric is good. Just seems more aggreivating at times.

If the fan is working when you turn down the temp on your thermostat, all is good. many new high efficiancy units do not always run the comprressor all the time like the old ones. house is cooling all is good

How much more efficent is this than my 40 yr old janitrol 125000 btu beast

not knowing what you are replacing it with, it is hard to give a reasonable answer ( old sealed units against split system converter ac units )
However if you work along these lines, you will come to a logical decision
First off the old machines had the compressor operation tied to the thermostat setting so the compressor ran full blast until the room cooled to the set temperature. Then it stopped and remain stopped until the room heated up. At this point the compressor restarted and that is the point the the most power is consumed
again it runs full blast until the room again cools and switches off
So you can see that you have a varying room temperature and high energy consumption on start up
Now compare that to inverter units
The compressor is running all the time ( no high energy start ups every 10 minutes or so) but the compressor becomes less efficient as the room cools down
Still running at full rpms but the controls reduce the compressing action--less power to run the compressor--so there is a reduction in power used
The temperature variation is reduced because as the room warms a bit the compressor pumps a bit more gas and doesn't start at full load as per the old unit
Next , the latest units have better temperature / humidity recognition controls so they can be set at night so a room maintains an ambient temperature /humidity so that as the night gets cooler and the air drier you don't wake up freezing
It will even get to the point where you wonder if the unit is working
Lastly you can run the unit at a much higher setting ( 27 Degrees c instead of 24 or less and have the same comfort level as at 24-25 degrees c)
lastly warranty is for 2 years at best and parts will be available for the next 10 years against parts for your old unit

Sound went off, twice now in within the first week, now tv won't come on

if it only a week old or brand new , take it back for warranty service or warranty exchange for a new one
Personally if it failed so quick I would be basking for my money back and buying a better quality unit

You may have a week cap. just pick up a new one and also install a hard start kit. should solve your problem. worst case you have a bad compressor.

Compressor not working

If unit is receiving power and a new start cap/relay will not start the compressor then latter is toast and it is time to go shopping.

WE HAVE A LOUD HUMMING SOUND AND THEN A CLICK THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A FEW WEEKS AND KNOW THE FREZZER IS NOT KEEPING THINGS COLD

Hi this could be a bad start relay for the compressor, but depending on the age and particular model, maytags around 4-8 years old are known for compressor failure, if thats the case better off to buy a new unit most the time unless you want to spend $500.00 on the repair. If you let me know model I can tell you if its the compressor or the relay.

The compressor will run at times, but the condenser fan doesn't start and the unit shuts off on either high pressure or the compressor overheats. Why doesn't the fan start with the compressor? The unit is...

IF UIT IS A YEAR OR LESS OLD YOU ARE BETTER OFF CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER, SINCE THE UNIT HAS WARRANTY FOR PARTS AND LABOR DURING THE FIRST YEAR THEY WILL COVER ALLSO THE FREIGHT COST.

Electical module to compresser burnt out

That is the compressor start relay and klixon. This happens most of the time when a unit os several years old due to the contacs on the relay and klixon getting loose from heat which causes more heat and then results in a failure. It can also happen when the compressor itself fails to start due to a failure of the compressor. The Klixon is a tthermal protector that controls a start winding period It heats up and then opens the circuit if the compressor does not start.

You did not mention any symptoms prior to your discovering the burnt electrical module so I am assuming there were none visible inside or out.

It is worth the effort to have this checked out by a qualified repairman. Many times it is as simple as replacing the start realy and klixon (interlocked as an assy when installed) Other than the service call and labor the parts required to attemot repair of this unit are less than $50.00. Once again it is worth an initial attempt at repair if the unit is less than 8 years old.

Compressor kicks out and it's new

First of all, clean your outside coils so that you are assured of good cooling air. The compressors have an overtemp device that is usually internal to protect them against heat. If you have an air compressor use it to blow out the coils good. If the compressor will start, the capacitor is good so it sounds like a cooling problem with the compressor

Compressor intermittently starts, loud humming when it doesn't

get a 3 and 1 relay that will help boost the start windings on the compresor and help it start-up. get the one for 1/2 hp and you shoiuld be good to go.

Compressor on ac unit

It could be a relay for the compressor is sticking in the run position.
If it is only about one week old take it back to the dealer for service or call them and tell them your problem. This should be covered by warranty and the dealer can refer you to someone authorized to do the work.
