Jumped in my truck to go run errands and barely made it one block from the house when truck died acted as if ran out of fuel, had 3/4 tank of fuel, put machine on it no codes whatsoever. Replaced fuel filters although they only had 1800 miles on them and looked clean. Drained water separator not much in there. batteries are fairly new and tested them, got 12.4 v on both. Checked fuses and relays all were good. Do not see any leaks anywhere, I can hear fuel pump kicking in when I turn key on. Engine cranks fine but just wont fire up.
Assuming the vehicle is a diesel because you say you drained the water separator ? What engine ? What fuel pressure does it have to the injectors ? Do the injectors fire ?
Ford 7 3 powerstroke crank no start due to low icp injection pressure...
Do you know how to trouble shoot diesel engines ? Your best bet take it to a qualified repair shop .
SOURCE: 1991 Explorer fuel pump

SOURCE: 2003 focus engine died.
This exact same thing happened to me....it ended up being the Mass Airflow Sensor. Replaced that and it has not happened since.
SOURCE: F350 don't start
Check to see if you are sucking air on the inlet side of charge pump, Disconect feed side of charge pump, fabricate a hose to place in a clear container to check for good clear flow.Hope this helps.
SOURCE: intermittent no start, very strange, very confusing
Sounds like fuel pump going out. I was told by a friend that the pump can get stuck and that by knocking on the fuel tank or by attempting to start that it can kick the pump out of the bad spot and it will start. But it is a sign that it needs to be replaced.
