Question about Rinnai RHFE-1004FA 38,400 BTU Energy Saver Ductless Heater - LP Gas
I just moved into a new place with a new Rinnai 1004F installed. There is no instruction manual and the link online is old. I've turned the red gas knob to open the flow of gas to the heater, and pressed the on button. I pressed the temp. button and made it go as high as it would so it would at least come on. It starts sounding like something is happening, then it makes a buzzing noise and shuts off. An 11 is flashing on the screen and the ON light on the front of the machine is flashing red.
I have no idea what all this means, and it is cold here! Please help with a suggestion, or a let me know if there is a new link to the manual somewhere. Thank you very much....
Rinnai heaters are only gas. On the right side of the unit you will find a door that opens. Open it up and check to see if the gas is turned on. If it is, you may have to check and see if the gas meter outside is on or the propane tank (if it's LP) is on. If everything is on and you are still getting an eleven code. There must be a restriction in either the vent pipe or burner assembly.
Inspect the vent tubes, there are 2. One you can look into from the outside and the other one you can not access because it is covered by what looks like a hotel desk bell. However you can remove the vent tube from behind the heater. It will look like a vacuum hose. Remove it from the vent section and start the heater. If it starts, you have a restriction in the outter tube. If it does not, now you will have to call a gas technician to look deeper into the unit.
