The CD player on my Bose Wave Radio/CD has stopped working. I've cleaned the eye and tried holding the lid down while trying to get the system to recognize the CD. It goes through it's usual motions of starting for CD play (showing the track screen, cycling through the volume, etc), but then just keeps blinking "CD" on the screen as if it is not recognizing there is a CD in the dock at all. Any suggestions would be a lot of help, thanks in advance,
Chris
CD Player on my Bose Wave radio/cd just blinks CD and it appears to me that the disc is not spinning. This is the same problem that many others have already identified. I unplugged the unit and removed the battery but this did not solve the problem. I notice that there is a "platter" (part of the lid) that sandwiches the cd onto the spindle. the platter seems tight but does turn. Also, does anyone know if there is a drive belt that may have broken?
Hi to everyone that had or have a problem with Bose wave radio system. I'm sure that all of you did call the Bose center and spend a long time on hold to be told that you need to send it in for repair and a cost of $99 like if we did not spend enough money yet...
1 Remove the power connection cable.
2 flip the wave radio upside. Down.
3 unscrew all the screws problem they all the same size.
4 hold the radio firmly and re flip it upside up.
5 remove the cover.
6 you will have to unscrew the engine keep that screw separately just in case it is a different size.
7 you will need to remove the connection that is the less wide.
8 you will need to remove the speaker connection top left in front of the metal tower. To remove it you will need tweezers to be able to fit in that limited space. Also make sure that the engine is set on the table and not on the wave radio do not need to unplug the large connection. Be careful removing the cover, you want to lift it slowly left side first and moving to the right and it will be resting side up because of all the connections.
9 Have a can of Endust for electronic it is a multi-purpose duster for electronics.
10 no need to open anything from the cd player just look on top and spray in the openings that you see, most of the time something is untrusting the laser to read the cd.
For my case I had a piece of paper, tiny and a tiny piece of rubber? Never knew where it came from but it is working perfectly and did cost 5 dollar for the can or less.
I hope that help good luck and do not be afraid to open the radio, just be gentle and the difficulty is EASY.
Just have Tweezers, Phillips screw driver and the electronic duster can on hands.
The cd player on my wave radio stopped working, spoke with Bose, they suggested unplugging it for about a minute, then plugging it back in. Now it works fine. Apparently the wave radio is software driven, so power fluctuations/or outtages may cause the unit to need to reboot.
I was never able to find out what happened to the player, Luckily I live near the Bose headquarters in Mass. and they fixed it for ~$100 and gave me a free remote control, since I had lost mine.

we have a wave w/ 3 CD changer...the CD in the top unit works fine, but if I load CDs in the lower unit it spins them up and then gives an error message. any help would be great!
My radio works fine but the CD player does not--the company suggested I but a new one...right. For that money it should work forever. Sometimes the CD spins but no sound comes forth (occasionally it starts working from this point at a later time!). Lately, though, it repeatedly comes up with "no disk". Help.
MY BOSE WAVE RADIO CD PLAYER WON'T WORK RADIO O.K. CD WILL NOT TURN THE DISC IN THE TOP COVER SEEMS VERY LOOSE. WHO DO I CALL FOR REPAIR?
My cd was working fine until my wife wanted to hear a song again. We used the remote to set it back, but nothing would play. After that, it just spins and the CD light blinks. Radio works still.
cd player not working. Keeps flashing "disc"
I have a Bose Wave Radio with CD Player. Radio works fine but the CD player will not work. It flashes CD but will not play. Bose wants about $200 to guarantee a fix. I have checked what I can but cannot fix it. Any suggestions?

CD player rejects all CD's it used to play perfectly, claiming the CD is unreadable. Everything else works just great. I tried cleaning the CD's, but they work fine in all other CD players. I don't know what else to do because there aren't any "reset" type buttons on this multi-million dollar machine.
Hi,
The cd player on my bose wave works maybe half the time. I've tried a cd lens cleaner but this makes no difference. Bose have said it sounds like it needs a new reader and have quoted $350 to repair it. I have heard you can buy a Bose reader with instructions on how to install it but this sounds a bit tricky to me, and besides I haven't been able to find this product.
What do you think?
Sam.
I have a similar problem. Had the Wave for about three years and just the other day, when jumping to the next track, it would not play. When I re-inserted the disk, the message 'not readable' appeared. All subsequent tries with other disks were'unreadable'.
Contacted BOSE and was told to do the unplug/reboot thing. Did not work. They tell me I have to send it to S.C. to be looked at.
Anyone know what the problem is, and what I might do to fix it?
My problem is exactly the same, unit does not play disc, goes through volume numbers, sits for a while then goes to word "disc" with small cd on screen. Does not play disc however. Have turned unit on and off, have tried many discs. no luck

Had the problem with no CD play, disc and flashing CD in window.Called the factory. Simple fix for CD problem. Pulling the plug to cut off power is not enough. You must also remove the battery. Yes there is a battery in the bottom of your unit. One minute later with new battery, plug unit back in and the CD player will work. At least mine did.

Have the same problem; cd player simply stopped working with symptoms as others have reported.
It appears that the cd does not spin. Just sits.
I have the same CD issue as stated before. CD player was working and magically stopped. CD is flashing and DISC reads in the screen. Tried unplugging for 10 minutes and replaced battery. Nothing. Didn't see any solutions other than cutting off power. Any recommendations?
same problem in this thread. neither solution worked.
we have the same problem, cd not spinning. We looked for a battery compartment, there is not one identified on the bottom of the unit. Where is the battery located? We are referring to the acoustic wave 2000.
My Bose radio is just about 3 years old. It started stopping playing the CDs in the middle, and now has stopped acknowledging them all together.
CD player skips terribly. Radio works fine. :(
CD player shows all functions and the player sounds like it's working/spinning (makes a clicking sound) but the CD's won't play. Unplugged but that didn't help. It's almost as if the CD isn't being recognized. Thanks for your ideas, Art
My Bose system in my GMC has suddenly started skipping on every cd it used to play just fine and eventually rejects the cd saying check cd.....the unit isn't simple to pull from the dash so I would like to get it fixed without alot of hoopla
The cd player on my Bose wave cd player has stopped working as described by others on this site. I called Bose repair who quoted a minimum of $139 for repair. Doesn't anyone know how to fix this?
CD player wont work. Radio does. CD wont turn- just blinks "disc". Is there a place i can send it to be repaired? Tried unplugging and waiting for a time then plugged back. No deal. Need to have someone look at it. I'm not smart enough to figure it out.
CD player wont work. Radio does. CD wont turn just blinks "disc".
CD PLAYER WON'T PLAY ANY CD'S
cd player says check cd, but nothing is wrong with cd's
cd player says check cd, but nothing is wrong with cd's it is a delco in a 2000 chevy impala
This seems to be an on going problem with the Bose wave. Mine stopped in the middle of the cd. Now it says all is unplayable but the radio works. I'm disapointed in the quality I have come to expect from Bose. For the price they should stand behind their products better.
I unplugged the Bose twice--one time for 1 minute and again for 5 minutes. Nothing. Next idea? Thanks.
