What cause 3 amp fuse to keep blowing when power in turn on goodman air handler

The 3 amp fuse is in the red low voltage (24 volt) thermostat wire
and only gets power when the thermostat is set to turn on heat or a/c It should be connected to the red wire from the thermostat

1) If the OUTDOOR A/C Condensing Unit is running BUT the indoor AIR HANDLER is NOT running, the problem could be as easy as changing the RUN CAPACITOR which is usually located within very close proximity of your indoor air handler motor. Ensure the ELECTRICAL DISCONNECT SWITCH is "OFF" and change the oval run capacitor (usually a 5 microfarad capacitor). This SHOULD fix your problem.

2) If the OUTDOOR A/C Condensing Unit is NOT running BUT the indoor AIR HANDLER is running, the problem could be as easy as the outdoor unit is not receiving the required 220 Volts AC. Turn the circuit breaker for the A/C Unit OFF and then turn it back ON. Ensure the circuit breaker SNAPS when you turn it to the ON position.

3) If the previous two steps to not apply or do not work, go to the paperwork supplied with the Thermostat. Almost every manufacturer provided a TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE within their literature. Follow those steps. If their TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE does NOT fix your problem, they should have a TOLL-FREE TELEPHONE NUMBER provided to contact their TECHNICAL EXPERTS with your problem(s). Call them and ask them what could be causing the problem.

Need to how the power source will be hooked up, and how, it will wire into a 13 SEER Goodman Packaged Unit, with HKR-15 strips. wire size?= 15 Ft. run: panel to unit

Minim 20 amp circuit ... is this 110 or 220? You need to know.

20 amp circuit needs to have #12 wire. If 110 Volts, you need a black, white and green #12. If 220 Volts you need a black, a red, and a green. If you have anything IN the unit that needs 110 (probably not), you need black, Red, White and Green (bare) #12 wire. Definitely needs to be on a dedicated circuit. If your unit has a resistance heater (electric) you will need a 30 amp circuit (probably 220) which needs #10 wire minimum. 220 volt breakers are double. You will need two spaces in your panel box. Would not hurt to put in heavier wire (#8) protected by a 30 amp breaker ... $ is the governing factor.

Having said all of that --- you should be reminded that I dont even know what country you are in nor your prevailing voltage nor what your national or local codes require. My comments based on installing several Goodman products over several years on the Eastern Seaboard.

My goodman air handle is run on e-heat only and will not turn off ,also the outside unit will not turn on , I put a new themostat this didn't help I have a goodman heatpump

Heat-Pumps can be temper mental. Sounds to me like your air handler is running on emergency heat, due to a problem with the condensing unit. You have heat strips in the air handler in case the outdoor temp. gets to cold and the heat pump cant keep you're home warm. Also, if you loose a compressor, it will go into emergency heat. If you have lost the compressor for one reason or another, lets say a locked rotor, the compressor would draw L.R.A. (Locked rotor amps) and cause the circuit breaker to trip. Check this.As for the air handler running all the time, you said you replaced the stat? When you removed the control wiring from the stat, did the fan shut off? I wish I were on site to help you, but all I can do is offer you some advice. With the power off to the air handler, go to the stat and remove the red and green wires. Turn power back on and see if it stops running. If it stops, then it sounds like the new stat is also faulty? If it continues to run, check the wiring in the air handler to make sure the red and green are not touching somewhere, and also check the control wiring on the outdoor unit for the same problem. Do you have any dogs that may have chewed into wiring? If so, check all outdoor t-stat wiring. There are so many things it could be and I hope very much I have helped you with solving this online, which can be difficult. You may also have a faulty defrost board. Try to do what I have asked of you.
Good Luck, Sincerely, shastalaker7

Goodman SSX16 split system not working

Defective thermostat wire.
Defective contactor.
With the t-stat set for cool and turned down on a low temperature, check for 24 volts at the contactor low voltage hookup. If you have 24 volts, replace the contactor.
You can manually close the contactor to make sure the high voltage is going through it.

Have you hard wired your fan motor to verify that the motor and or the capacitor are good? If you do a continuity test of the motor leads(with electricity off of course) you can see if the motor has open or grounded windings.
