Jenn-air self cleaning oven

Turned dials to "clean" and locked it. Do I stop it? If so.when? and how do I unlock it?

  • aodrisco Jun 21, 2009

I have an old jenn-air kitchen oven and no manual. I tried to clean it by turning dial to clean and locking it. It's been making a nice noise, but I don't know when or how to stop it or if it is cleaning itself.

  • aodrisco Jun 21, 2009

I'll know eventually, but it addresses the problem.

  1. Step 1 Check to make sure that the Jenn-Air oven's digital display still shows "Lock" or "Off." If neither of these messages show, the oven is not locked and requires no further effort to unlock it.
  2. Step 2 Wait for the oven to cool completely, if it has been on the self-cleaning cycle, before attempting to unlock or open the oven door. It will automatically unlock once the oven has cooled, which may take several hours depending on the temperature of the cleaning cycle.
  3. Step 3 Press and hold the "Cancel" and "Cook & Hold" buttons on the oven or, if you have dual ovens installed, the upper oven. This will reverse a manual locking of the oven door.
  4. Step 4 Wait until the message "Lock" flashes on the digital display, then release the buttons. Your oven is now unlocked.

For burnt-on grease, spray the grill-rocks with an oven cleaner and let them sit overnight. Rinse well the next morning.
  8. Step 8 Wipe down the surface of the electric grill with paper towels and a regular kitchen cleanser after each use.
  9. Step 9 Check the grease jar each time you clean the grill. The grease jar is located underneath the grill and can be removed by unscrewing the jar. Dispose of any grease that has accumulated in the jar and wash the jar with soap and water.

Have a wall mounted Jenn-air oven. Have used self-cleaning feature before. Followed step by step instructions to the end including locking the door and pushing "Enter". Went to bead expecting to wake

This is a general answer and not specific. The oven thinks is still in the cleaning mode. If it has one, push the clean button again. Set the oven to a regular bake cycle.

(90s) Jenn-air single wall oven locked

The timer may think it is still in clean. The easiest way to try and fix this is to set another clean cycle and let it run all the way. Set it for the least amount of time that it will let you for example try a 15 minute clean cycle. Once it goes through it and turns off automatically it may release the lock, if not you will most likely need someone from service out.

I hope this helps

Jenn-Air stove locked

After the lock indicator light goes out, move the door lock lever to the left. The oven door can now be opened. Turn the selector and temperature knobs from clean to off AFTER THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED. If the temperature knob is turned to off BEFORE the door is unlocked, the door will not open. Forcing the lock will damage the lock mechanism. If this should happen, return the temperature knob back to CLEAN, unlock the door, THEN turn the temperature knob off. Need help unlock oven after self cleaning jenn air jjw9527

The temperature setting must be set on "Cleaning" and the oven cooking dial to "Clean"; otherwise the door will not open and forcing will damage the mechanism. Also, before the door will open, the internal temperature must drop to a safe level and a red "cleaning" light must go off, after the temperature drops inside the oven.

Self cleaning

Maryann, try shutting the breaker off for 5 minutes and see if the door unlocks. Im assuming the oven has cooled down. If that doesn't work try holding the cancel and broil pads for 3 seconds. This will put it into the quik test mode. Once in this mode press the clean button. This should toggle between lock and unlock. Don't know if this will work for you but it's worth a try..Catriver...post back.
