It is a problem with your computers battery connector. If your computer is under warranty you should send it in, if not you will want to look into replacing the receptical.

I have a dell inspiron 1525 the battery light was blinking orange and wouldnt come on so listening to an expert i bought a new battery when you first plug it in should the light still be orange??

Hi. Blinking orange light on battery indicator means it's charging. To make sure, point your mouse to the battery icon on the Taskbar located on the lower right-hand corner of your screen...near the system time and speaker icons. It should say plugged in, charging. If you see "plugged in, not charging, then you need to call Dell Phone Support for additional help.

New aftermarket Inspiron 6000 battery will not power the Laptop

I would say that the power management portion of the system board is probably faulty if it behaves the same with both the factory battery and the aftermarket.

Many systems have the charge controller and battery interface on a separate board but unfortunately on the Inspiron 6000 it's integrated.

FYI, Here's a copy of the service manual for that system: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6000/en/sm/index.htm

New dell replacement battery wont charge insp 9200

Sounds like it is a bad battery - do you know if it was working before you purchased it? Could the pins between the battery and laptop be misaligned? I had this once and i had to get a new system board.

My dell Inspiron 9200 won't power on - I have replaced the adaptor, but it won't show that it is charging and won't turn on. Should I bite the bullet and buy a new battery - If so, do the generic ones...

if you are not seeing a charge light when you plug in your charger, the problem is not in the battery. If you have (as you say) replaced the charger, then the problem is not there either.

That leaves one place: the power jack.

It is common for laptops to experience failure at this point. Some laptop manufacturers have even made this a replacable part, allowing a technician to simply unplug the old one and plug in the new one.

Most, however, are soldered to the motherboard and the repair is more compllicated.

As for the batteries, the cell count is the primary feature to watch for battery function. 6 cell batteries are more common now and hold the charge longer. Compare this feature when choosing a battery.

however, the jack is most likely your problem.

good luck

Battery Charge light flashing 4 red one green Dell Inspiron 9200

usually, its an indication that the battery is nearing the end of its useful life. you can try to use another battery to isolate it further. If the same thing happens with another battery, chances are, the mobo is failing. Flashing the BIOS can usually help with battery issues. If another battery works fine and your computer is within its first year since you bought it, you can request a replacement battery from Dell

You can also pick up the batteries less expensive than most computer places at batteries plus. And yes it sounds as though it is the batteries charge is getting low, especially if it runs fine when the battery is out and you have it plugged in.

Dell Inspiron 9200 Battery defunct or ....

Try taking the battery out of the laptop, and see if it will power up. If not it is possible that your power cord died - and your battery may be just fine.

For reference, I've seen plenty of Dell's with dead power cables.

My laptop battery won't charge

possible when the old AC adapter blew it took part of the power management circuit with it, This is the circuit that detects and charges the battery, I'm not sure whether this a seperate replaceable daughter card or whether it is part of the main motherboard. you will need to investigate this (or send it for a service)
