Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 drawer leaking - tried the obvious fix

Hi, after researching this problem, I took the washer apart, dismantled the drawer, and found the U-shaped trap type pipe going into the drum. I cleaned this out throroughly, even though it wasn't clogged up. I checked the inlets (about 4 or 5) into the drawer, and they were clear of obstructions. I reassembled it and was gutted to see the drarer still leaked. The leak is only when there is water going through the drawer, and is huge. There aren't any missing seals or anything, in fact there aren't any sales at all on the drawer that could be damaged. Please help!!

See if the seal of the door is fine. The soap dispenser might also need a check up. The door seal leaks when its get withered because of the soap, which might give a clog.

I occasionally have a sewer gas smell near my washer. But after I run the washer, the smell will go away for a few days. What could the problem be?

Hi Joe

Is that pex pipe on the right your water supply to the washer?

Your sewer gas smell I believe can be eliminated by putting a P trap in the drain PVC line.

(EDIT)
Where the drain hose from the washer hooks into the PVC pipe is NOT airtight which would allow the sewer gas back into the laundry room!

(EDIT EDIT)
If there is a P-trap in your outflow pipe, the only place left for grey water to collect (and stink) would be between the washer and where the waste hose goes into the drain. We've had to use a little bit of bleach on occasion when we haven't used the washer for a bit.
Hope this helps

Tricity Bendix aw1200w washing machine does not always drain water ! What is wrong ? Thank you in anticipation .

i think something is floating around in the space between the inner and outer drums

like a sock or small plastic bag etc etc etc
so drain the machine
take the back panel off and remove the heating element and shine a torch inside
the blockage may have worked into the drain system pipes and traps
and you may need to totaly disconnect it and
lay it over on its right side {the side opposite the soap drawer}

then examine its outlet from the drum and pipes to the pump

the pump
and its housings and viens
for any wires and hair clips monopoly hotels and 2ds and 3ds platic pens
basically anything that fits into the soap drawer and fits down the intake pipes
that then lives inside the drums

so... taking the heating element out will expose the area you need to check with a torch
also if you shine a bright light thru the open lid of a washer
you can usualy see any implaled wires etc on the outer drum
most are transparrent or opaic

My washer is showing f 06...help please

your filter is blocked up

what to do

empty the machine {drain}

disconnect and lay the machine on the right side {away from the drawer side}

then at the bottom of the drum is a trap

inside the trap there is a plastic ball in a cage or just in the rubber sleave

disconnect this using plumbing tools wrench and gas grips etc

check for a blockage

also take apart the pump and check for bra wires etc debree blocking the pump

the error you have is a blockage of the pump

if it wont spin its either this or the motor brushes are too worn out

as it gives a error message you can look it up

by typing the model like hotpoint 655 service manual etc and gaing more data but i do know

that you need to reset the error after you fix it before the machine will work

so usually there is a sequence like hold in start stop or power button and switch the ac supply on then let go and the error resets

so try to clear the pump and traps and take care too check

you can find something has cracked the pump an water leaks out to the coils of its motor had one like this last month also took out the controller board pump driver triac and its driver and load resistors

4 parts and a pump back half later it worked fine

so if you find a bit of rusty bra wire expect the rest of the half loop to be inside

also if you have kids check for lego houses monopoly stuff sticks from 3ds etc etc bits of dolls and also ive found a small dog doo bag and it floats so it was a hard fault had to take the element out the back of the drum as it melted on

so there is your faults with no spin

My Frigidaire affinity washer leaks water into the washer stand. Whenever I open the drawer after washing a couple of loads there's water in the drawer.

That's what I thought was wrong with mine to I had 1.75 in change and a piece of a wash clothe in the screen. I toke all that out and it still leaked. Took it apart further and found a piece of the weight that is made out of cement broke of and rubbed through the drum. That sounds like junk to me!!!

The dryer keeps stopping (the timer skips from 50 mins to 10 mins in secs) AND what worries me the most is, I haven't needed to empty the lint trap.

Well, well.
Am I to understand the timer dial is going really fast as you watch it?
I didn't know that was possible, but maybe the wiring has been compromised (shorted out) somehow. If so, you would need to take it all back apart and look for a wire that is pinched or incorrectly hooked up. Some Whirlpool dryers have numbers on the back of the timer that are supposed to match numbers that are actually printed on the wires themselves.
As far as the lint trap, perhaps one of the "pipes" inside the dryer is unhooked or loose causing the hot air to miss the screen.
Be blessed.

Try removing the draw and cleaning it thoroughly i would recommend running a few hot washers with no powder through the machine too.

The garbage disposal motor works but the water will not drain from the sink. What can I do?

You have clog in tubular pipes under sink.

Start at P trap under sink:
Take a photo if necessary so reassembly is easy.
Remove both nuts on p-trap and trap falls loose.
Any tubular pipe that gets moved, has to be taken apart and reassembled.
So move as few pipes as needed to get job done.
geno_3245_235.jpg
Remove tailpiece going into disposal.
Clean out disposal, tubular pipes and trap.

Re-assemble tubular pipe.
Rubber washers are replaced with new washers.
Plastic washers are cleaned and re-used.

Tapered end of plastic washer goes away from nut.
Clean and reuse tubular pipes.

We always use a good slap of rectorseal on all tubular joints and washers when re-assembling.
This guarantees there will be no leaks.
Use rectorseal on every joint directly on the washer or joint just before putting on nut.

Garbage Disposal is about 2-1/2 years old It is now no longer grinding up potato peels and clog every time! HELP--do we need a new one!!!

1/2 horsepower is the lighter weight model, and if you use it heavily, then it will not work like before.
Another thing to consider is whether the water is draining away completely while you're cutting.
If water and potato peels are both present, your p-trap and tubular drain may need to be cleaned.

geno_3245_162.jpg

Let's go through the whole thing: replacement, p-trap, tubular pipes, everything.

When I worked apartment maintenance, we replaced disposal with same brand disposal.
That way we didn't have to change out sink basket or move pipes around.
How to replace disposal body: Disconnect both nuts on p-trap. Remove p-trap and loosen tailpiece going into disposal.
Rotate connector disk clockwise that holds disposal to sink basket.
Before installing new disposal.
Attach electric wire to new disposal.
Attach dishwasher tube to new disposal. Knock out plug inside dishwasher opening.
Push new disposal up into place, and attach to old sink basket with new connector disk.
Use new connector washer.
Re-assemble tubular pipe.

geno_3245_163.jpg

If this is your home, you might want new sink basket that comes with new disposal because it looks shiny and new.
Buy a tub of plumbers putty also.
Remove old sink basket and clean opening.
Put finger-size roll of plumbers putty around sink opening, and then push new strainer basket into plumbers putty.
Tighten basket from below, wipe away excess putty around sink opening.
Install new disposal as described above.

Tips for tubular pipes:
When taking apart tubular pipes, start at p-trap and take apart as few pieces as needed to do job.
On image above, loosen both nuts on p-trap, trap falls loose, and then work on disposal.
Any tubular drain pipe that gets moved while working under sink needs to be disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled.
Metal pipes have rubber washer >> always use new rubber washers.
Plastic pipes have plastic washers > plastic washers can be cleaned and re-used.
Plastic washers have flat side that goes toward nut, tapered side away from nut.

geno_3245_164.jpg

When reassembling tubular pipe, we use rectorseal on washers and joints.
Apply good amount on washer just before pushing washer in place and attaching nut.
Rectorseal will ensure tubular drain pipes won't leak.

I put too much carrot skins down the disposal , the blades turn but the water will not drain

You have to take apart the tubular drain pipes located under sink.
It will be fun.

Here's some do-it-yourself information to save calling plumber.
Take apart tubular pipes and clean them out.
Take a photo of the drain before starting. Take other photo as needed for facebook.
Once pipes are apart, run water or use coat hanger to clean out disposal.
Not necessary to take disposal out.

1) Tubular pipes connect to disposal.
Each tubular pipe has a nut and washer.
Pipes can be metal with rubber washer.
Pipes can be plastic with plastic washer.

geno_3245_90.jpg

2) Tubular pipes come apart with channels locks
geno_3245_91.jpg

3) You need a bucket to catch the water when you take apart tubular pipes.
Keep towel handy.

4) All tubular pipes that get moved while working under sink have to be taken apart, cleaned and re-assembled. All you do is take them apart, clean them out, clean them up, and re-assemble the same way they came apart.

5) Take a photo of the drain assembly before starting. Always start with the P-trap shown image above. Loosen top nut and lift up nut. Next, loosen tubular pipe that connects to disposal. and see it can lift out of P-trap without moving any of the other pipes. If clog is inside p-trap, then p-trap will have to come off. Try not to move any other drain pipes; any drain pipe that gets moved will start to leak and needs to be taken apart, cleaned and re-assembled.

6) For best results:
After clog is removed,
Clean all tubular pipes and washers before re-assembly. Take photos as you go so you know where each part goes.
Plastic washers are re-used.
Flat part of plastic washer fits against nut, tapered part away from nut.
Rubber washers can be re-used depending on age >> new rubber washers are best.

7) To re-seal tubular pipes first-time every-time, use rectorseal on rubber or plastic washers.
As you are re-assembling, smear healthy amount over entire washer and then tighten the nut.
Wipe off excess on outside of pipe.

Smell from water remaining in grey seal

My GE washer model wcvh6400j0ww was leaking. May be standing water under your machine. The repair person thought the gasket. It turned out to be the water in-let pipe (WH41X10118 and you will need seal WH41X10119) and not the gasket. He ordered the gasket and took machine apart to replace and found cracked pipe. Take your machines front off and make sure it is the gasket leaking. Good Luck,
