How can I install "scan" option in display of Canon irc3170 printer?

I have Canon IRC3170 printer, printer's Display does not have "Scan" Option. How can I scan my document?

    from the user manual Scanning image data into computer is a function that is available if the IE c3170c 3170Ci/Ir is upgraded with Printer and Network Capabilities. For the iR 3170C/IR the optional UFR 11 Printer Kit, Color multi=pdl printer kit is must be installed.red

    this is an extra circuit board of some kind have not been able to figure out what the kits do or where you get them from but I feel that your device may be missing an upgrade of software in the printer or requires a circuit board to be added.

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/office/color_imagerunner_copiers/imagerunner_c3100_c3170/imagerunner_c3170i if you print out the configuration page from the printer menu screens it will tell you the languages supported this tells you if pcl5 or ps drivers. Where you may come to grief is getting the fax and scanner to work which I have no idea on how this is achieved.

How do i chang the ip address on my cannon IRC3170? or set it to automatic so that my computer can find the printer on the network??
After complete installation of printer
1. Go to control panel-> Device and Printer
2. select printer which you want to set an ip address and right click and select printer properties
3. It will display on general, select port tab
4. select the printer
5. Click Add port
6. it will display a printer port
7. Double click the standard ip address
8. click next and change the ip address
9. finish

When i am going for scan my machine display this massge this function requires optional equipment
Image Runner 3300 or (iR3300) copiers do not come with print/scan OPTIONS installed. These functions must be enabled by installing the correct 'kit'....same with fax option...again, these were 'options' when this machine was introduced, no print, scan, fax,...unless options were added to it. Yes, the buttons are there, however.....

Error E000532-8001 on iRC3170
532 means the staple head is not moving into posistion you might want to open the door and of the finisher and stick some folded up paper in the door interlock and see if the staple head is hitting something when it tries to move good luck

I'll tell you if you'll pay me as I have had to pay you if I would have asked you. Found the solution alone, thanks to you anyway (I did'nt want to pay) so I had to do it myself, took me 10 minutes more.
