Question about Cameras
Need a battery cover for my camera
I just went to www.nikonnet.com and searched for information on my coolpix 3100 and found under "service and repair" a service advisory for the Nikon Coolpix series; 3100-5700-SQ-5400-4500-5000-3500. They had a service advisory product return form and instructions on the return process, along with a printable form with the proper address to send your camera to and the customer information return shipping address forms for you to fill in.
They state that they would fix the problem free of charge.
I did not see the specific problems involved, but if there was a recall. I'm thinking that they must realize the cost effectiveness of replacing the camera rather than spending the time, money, effort, labor costs to fix the problems.
So, rather than jerry rigging the battery latch or continuing to use tape to keep the battery latch closed I am going to attempt replacement. What the heck, if it doesn't work out I will buy a camera from another company next time.
