Question about Harman Kardon HK206 Computer Speakers

HK206 speakers - bought a 2nd hand set - power plug doesn't fit

I bought a second hand pair of HK 206 speakers which came with a power plug but it doesn't actually fit into the socket in the back. Anyone know where I can get one that does fit/work?
Have tried with a universal one for a iDock which fitted, but speakers didn't actually turn on or work at all.

What are the specs and where will I be able to buy a cheapish one? Or am I better off giving up (since I only paid £3 for the speakers in the first place...)??

Thanks so much x

Try Radio Shack. They have adapters for just about every style of audio jack.

Will Harman Kardon HK 206 speakers work with Windows 8

I just purchased a Dell XPS 8500 with Windows 8 and decided to keep using my old Harmon Kardon HK 206 speakers because I'm quite satisfied with these speakers. When I hooked them to my new PC, Windows 8 recognized them right away. The speakers work great on my new PC. Try going to the Control Panel and see if your speakers were recognized. (On my PC they're referred to as "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio). That's due to the default drivers in Windows 8. As long as you see speakers in the control panel, you should be OK. In that case you should check your connections. If you don't see speakers in the control panel, go back one screen and select add a device and let Windows 8 scan for any device that it hadn't recognized before.

According to this similar request http://www.fixya.com/support/t1489202-need_replacement_power_cord_harmon you're looking for a 12v 2500ma power supply. Take the speaker with you to someplace like Radio Shack and I'm sure they can set you up.

Or look on eBay. This one looks like it would fit just about anything in the U.S.

TV's are known for their audio chops. Neither are PC speakers. You'll need to access the audio through a variable output on the TV if you want control of the volume. SEE THE TV MANUAL. Or get the audio from the Cable Box directly (or any video source)

Make sure they are plugged into the green outlet on the back of your system. Check the twist lock on the back of the speaker and subwoofer and make sure it is fully connected.
Check the volume knobs on both speakers and subwoofer. Plug a headphone into the front speaker jack and check for sounds...
Go to Control Panel>sounds and make sure the speakers are enabled, restore the default audio playback settings, and check the volume controls. You can also use the hardware tab to check the audio devices & troubleshoot any that aren't working.
(Take a look at the device manager and make sure your sound is enabled...there is a troubleshooter there if your right click the device and choose properties.)
See this MS article.

HK206 SPEAKERS WITH USB PLUG

have you plugged anything else in to make sure the usb port is working? does the computer recognize the usb speakers when you plug the usb plug into the computer? do the speakers work on another computer? if you wiggle the usb wires around does it make a sound through the speakers? eliminate these questions so that we can move on to isolating the issue.
