Dec 8, 2015 - There is no picture or a black screen appears in the viewfinder or LCDwhen attempting to ... Look to see if an image can be seen in the viewfinder or LCD. IMPORTANT: Some camcorders have both a viewfinder and LCD.
Most cameras and video recorders now display picture either through the viewfinder or the LCD screen.
Your camera model allows the same. Although if you turn the lcd screen towards the subject (screen faces the same direction as the lens) then the viewfinder switches on.
The only thing you can do is take or send the camera to an AUTHORIZED service center for replacement of the LCD screen. If you can live with just using the viewfinder, like in the old days, the LCD being broken should not effect the camera operation. Set the selection to the EVF (electronic view finder) position and this will stop the LCD screen from coming on. If this has helped, please rate it accordingly. Thanks and good luck. (BTW: I LOVE my Fuji S700)
First thing to try is that you didn't accidentally turn off the LCD screen. Turn on the camera, and press the bottom DISP on the back of your camera.
If that didn't work, the next thing to try is to take a picture while the viewfinder is black. Download the picture to your computer, and view it on the computer's monitor. Does this picture also show up as black. If so, then the camera's CCD imager has likely failed, requiring professional camera service to be repaired. If your camera was an S1 IS, Canon would fix this for free:
I would suggest looking through the viewfinder. most cameras have a button on the back near the lcd screen that toggles the viewfinder or the lcd. If you give me the make and model of your camera i can tell you exactly where it is.

Some camcorders have both a viewfinder and LCD. To conserve power, the
viewfinder and LCD will not display at the same time. To use the
viewfinder, the LCD must be closed.
the electronic viewfinder on almost all digital cameras if even they got one is a tiny resolution screen or a mirror reflecting the bigger or smaller lcd screen. switch to your Lcd screen and see if colors are ok or still pink, also look at pictures you have taken. if ok the problem soly lies on the viewfinder which I have many cameras like it and come to think of it they looked aliittle pink too. the view finder helps you only in sunny conditions that you cant see your regular Lcd screen. and should be able to give you a good idea of what you are shooting.
pink in real digital colors means you lost some green . look through your menu and see if there is an adjustment for it if not and you cant live with it return for exchange.
I looked up the specs and would love this camera.
Since the viewfinder sees the subject different than the picture taking lens, we recommend using the LCD monitor screen for taking macro pictures. The image previewed on the LCD monitor will be the exact image that is taken.
To use the LCD as a viewfinder:
Turn the Mode dial to any Still mode.
Press the OK button to turn on the camera screen.
Frame your subject in the LCD.
Press the Shutter button to take a picture.
NOTE: Using the camera screen as a viewfinder significantly reduces battery power. Use it sparingly.
