Question about Bowflex Treadmill Series 7
While it was in operation (just before dying), there was a burning smell of plastic. If anyone has had this problem, please let me know the resolution.
Not a chance this is speed sensor related, the probability that a magnetic pickup is "fried" is near zero. This is a classic over current problem caused by lack of lubrication / old belt and deck. Something on the motor controller melted (hence the smell of burning plastic). This will need to be replaced most likely although these units contain a slow blow ceramic fuse that may have tripped first. At any rate the unit should be tested for current draw before being put into regular use again.

Sounds to me like your speed sensor fried itself. The speed sensor is on the pulley that turns the belt. If you're under warranty them give bowflex a call. If not under warranty you can still call and order the part. Porbably about $20 for a new sensor.
