Question about GE J2B915SS Dual Fuel (Electric and Gas) Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Switching from gas to oven

We recently bought the GE Dual fuel range but are having difficulty getting the range to switch from gas to electric. The outlet where it plugs in is working- it IS plugged in. We have contacted Sears and GE, but no one has been able to help us with this problem. Is there a way to switch from gas to electric? According to the user guide, it was set up to be used with electric and the manual tells you how to switch to gas,but this one started out being gas and we cannot get it back to electric. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Maybe I didn't explain the problem clearly. The oven itself is currently only functioning using gas. We cannot switch it back to electric. I understand that the stove top is gas, but the oven can be used with gas or electric. My question is, how do you switch from gas to electric?

    Sorry for the confusion.

I have the same situation, I recently bought a dual fuel GE Profile P2B912. I was thinking the oven would preheat using gas, then once up to desired temperature would switch to electric. But it doesn't switch to electric. If temp begins to drop the gas burner kicks on again.

Your model stove is dual fuel. Which means that the burners on the top of your stove are run using gas, and the bake and broil (and possibly a warming draw) are run using electricity. So if you are cooking on the top of your range you are using gas, and if you cook in the oven you are using electicity

Oven wont work everything else is fine

As your oven is electric there is a heating element in the oven, have a look in the oven to find it and check the little plug in caps on the end to make sure they are not loose. If they,re ok check the switch on the front panel sometimes the knob comes loose on the spindle if that's all ok it may be the switch has failed. Good luck.

M y dual fuel GE oven has no display showing it just went blank, but when you open the oven door the light goes on

I had the same problem as devlin50 with my GE duel fuel 918 model.
If you trip the circuit breaker off and leave for one minute before switching the power back on then hopefully the panel will be flashing, worked for me. Worth trying as replacement panel is not cheap, about $220 here in Canada.
