DO NOT attempt to create a drain. As long as a window A/C unit is installed properly, (angled slightly down toward the rear) it will drain excess water over the rear lower lip of the unit should it get that high. Many models use some of the collected water/condensation. It gets lifted up by the fan blades to cool the coil.

Portable haier air conditioner drainage. Cannot find drain hole and unable to tilt ac. Water is building up in the bottom of unit.

Here is a thought, received by me from a AC mechanic recently. Window ACs no longer actually drain concensate. Rather, the water is caught in a pan with the idea it will evaporate back into the outside air. The reason for this is the dripping water frequently resulted in the growth of algae below the unit resulting is unsightly stains and sometimes, slippery conditions. Evidently, there were a lot of complaints about being 'dripped on' also. So, AC manufacturers don't put drain holes in the bottom any more. If the pan over fills, it will spill out of many makes. If you want yours to drain, put a hole in the bottom.

Like I said, just a thought.

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com

Water coming out of front of unit, thru vents leaking on floor

Darlene, if this is a window or thru the wall unit, the leaking is usually caused by two things:

1. The drain pan under the unit has a drain hole (in the rear outside part of the unit) that is clogged.
2. The AC unit is not tilted down at the rear 1/4" to 1/2", so that water will drain to the outside drain hole.

Be prudent when you look for the drain hole in the drain pan. As the clog can blend in with the drain hole, making it difficult to see.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

My window airconditioner sounds like it has water in it and now its spitting out water in the room?

This can be caused by 2 things:

The drain pan hole is clogged and water is backing up in the pan. Look under the outside part of the AC unit for the drain hole and clear it. It may be hard to find, as the clog will blend in with the hole.

The unit was installed incorrectly and the outside portion (outside the wall) of the unit is not tilted down 1/4" to 1/2". Which allows the water to run to the drain plug.

Correcting either or both of the above 2 things, should solve the problem.

Hi,
The drain holes in the bacl are plugged with dirt...
pull the A/C out and check for the blockage and remove it so that the unit will drain properly.
The drain holes are usually in the back corners...

Hi!!
Look on the bottom back of the unit for the drain hole is probably clogged, use a piece of wire to unplug it.

My a/c is trwonig cold water and air

The water is standing in the ac unit and not draining out.Is this a window unit?Ac on a car or truck? If it is a window unit for a house, remove ac unit from window, and take out side and if it is in a cover, remove the cover to expose the ac unit, and it`s components.Wash out the bottom of the unit to uncover all the drain holes.Get all debri out of unit.Replace the unit in the window at a good tilt(tilt it outward)so it can drain good, and not back up in your house with water.

The unit is over flowing even when not turned on.

If your air conditioner is overflowing with water
1. Check the drain at the base of the unit.
2. Check the drain hose post drain hole.
AC's condensate and create water and have to drain. If drain is clogged, they flood
