Where and how do i replace the vss on a 2002 lincoln Ls

the vss is a variable reluctance or hall effect sensor that generates a waveform with a frequency that is proportional to the speed of the vehicle. if the vehicle is moving at a relatively low velocity , the sensor produces a signal with a low frequency. as the vehicle velocity increases, the sensor generate a signal with a higher frequency. the powertrain control module uses the frequency signal generated by the vss (and other inputs) to control such parameters as fuel injection, ignition control, transmission shifting and torgue converter clutch scheduling

Monitor flickers and faint bands scroll down the

could be fixed by ajdusting the refresh rate....

you could try this (xp pro sp2)

please rate if useful, good luck

Open Display in Control Panel.
On the Settings tab, click Advanced.
On the Monitor tab, in the Refresh Frequency list, click a new refresh rate.

To open Display, click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display.
  • The default refresh frequency setting is 100 Hertz, although your monitor may support a higher setting. Check your manufacturer's documentation for information regarding the settings your monitor supports.
  • A higher refresh frequency reduces any flicker on your screen, but choosing a setting that is too high for your monitor can make your display unusable and cause damage to your hardware.
  • Changes to the refresh frequency affect all users that log on to the computer.

Out of frequency set resolution or see monitor

If you are getting a splash screen (COMPAQ) then video goes black, you can try this. Boot system in Enable VGA mode from the F8 menu and see if you get to the desktop. If you do, you can then go to display properties and adjust the resolution to the Optimal for the monitor.

Playback of sound

There are internal crystals on the sound card that determine frequency.

It's possible that it is "vibrating at a higher frequency can multiplying the speed...

Try a standard MP3 to see if this applies to all sounds....

Check your CPU clock rate to make sure that it hasn't been adjusted (To soup up the PC speed)

Try an alternate sound card if one is available.

Monitor installtion

Hi Robin,

Hope this instruction well do solve like I met some problem like this. Try to reset the monitors setting manually in OSD (on screen display) mode. Look for frequency settings start at lower and have test it all. Respectively try to configure the video card frequency settings at Operating System GUID (Graphics user interface display) video card setting properties. Start from lower frequency and notice the each changes. When perfectly proportionate select Apply settings.

Best regards,
