When you enter your model number on the site, do not include any alphabet letters after the model number. For example, if your model number is 5050C, only enter it on Singer's website as 5050. This should help you find what you need.

Where can I get a manual for an unidentified sewing machine?

If it is unidentified, unless it is a weird bird, it is most likely a vintage mechanical machine, either (A) Generic copy/clone of a Singer model. If so, then view Singer models to see which looks most like yours, then search for that manual, most vintage Singers have free manuals on line (from Singer, ISMCS, or other collector's web site, or for sale), or (B) Non-clone precision Japanese post-war sewing machine. These are basic machines, and many vintage singer manuals will suffice to be able to operate them. Start by viewing manuals the most probable suspects:
1. Singer 15 (15-Class is the most common clone, and has the bobbin underneath, using a Bobbin Case. The bobbin has a series of holes around both sides.
2. Singer 66 (66-Class is also copied, and has a drop-in bobbin,
not need to load a bobbin case. If the machine is small, you may want to view manuals for the Singer 99-13, a 3/4 scale of the model 66.
3. If these two do not help, then just start looking for images of machines that look like yours, and review their manuals. You will soon be able to figure out how to thread and sew on most sewing machines.
Good place to start to ID machines:

GET A MANUAL FOR MY SINGER ONE MODEL H12148A11110103

That looks like a serial number, not a model number. Here's a link to find your model number: http://www.singerco.com/support/machine-model-numbers

Once you have the correct model number, check the singer site for the manual. They have many free to download.

How to operate a singer 547 model

The user's manual is available as a free download at the Singer Sewing machine site. However, I believe your model is a 8280, not a 547.

Need Model # AJ 7102236

There is no such thing as "Model" with that number. I do however recognize that as a Singer SERIAL NUMBER.

Singers of this vintage were not marked with model numbers. You have to identify them by their features. Luckily a kind Singer-lover... put up a nice visual guide.

http://www.sandman-collectibles.com/id-singer-machines.htm

Once you determine your model.... you can go to singerco.com and click on "customer support" then "manuals" and enter the Model number minus any trailing letters. For instance if your machine is a 128k just enter 128.

Once you have downloaded your manual... you might look for an adjuster's manual at http://www.sandman-collectibles.com/id-singer-machines.htm If needed.

Good luck and have fun bringing your old girl back to life!
