Question about Powerline Ethernet Network Adapter

1 Answer

Commtrend powerline ethernet adaptor

This pair of adaptors were working ok, now there is no comms.
On the units the status light is red and the ap light is orange the ethernet
activity light flashes green.

The synchronize function does not appear to do anything. There does not seem to be a reset available on the units.

Are they probably faulty?

You can find out by clicking on Start, Run, type "cmd" hit enter, a black window will open, in that window type: ipconfig , hit enter, you should see 3 address's IP, DNS,Default Gateway. if not their could be other issues causeing the prob. or the hardware is faulty and needs replacement.

I don't have those particular ones, but I have added more units to an existing pair of powerline adaptors. They are not paired, but simply configured onto the network you have set up. Once you have the initial pair set up it should be possible to add as many others individually as you need.

200MBPS Advent powerline adaptors dropping connection

It is normally reccommended that the adaptor goes straight into the socket so check the faulty one to see if it does rather than being plugged into a power strip.

Hope this helps

I have 2 comtrend dh-10pf powerline adapters. one of the adapters status is a red flashing light and the AP light and the Ethernet light are blank. the second powerline adapter has a solid red status...

To start you need to factory reset both adapters,
plug them both into a wall socket next to each other, press the config/f reset button, hold in until ap light goes off, repeat on the other one.
Now you should have a red status light on both.
Press the config/f reset button on one for about 5 seconds, wait until ap light stays on, this one is now your access point (ap) that should be plugged in to your router when you have finished config.
Now press the ap adapter config button again for about 5 seconds until ap light flashes, then press the config button on the other adapter until ap light flashes, wait until they both stop flashing, wait a few seconds, the status light on both adapters should be green, and one adapter should have an amber ap light.
Hope this helps.

None of the lights turn on my advent ethernet POWERLINE adapter

The problem may be occuring because there is no power being directly supplied to the adaptor via the port. If you look on the underside of the adaptor, there is a small button; simply hold this down and slide the 3 pronged plug down to reveal the power port. Clean it of any dust or material which may block it. Firmly place the plug back on the adaptor and check if it works. If the problem still persists, you could remove the plug and use a power cable with a matching port, i.e. a playstation power cable to my knowledge will match it.
