Hi,

The notebook model you have is shipped with the Synaptics touchpad driver. Please follow the below steps to enable scrolling features:

1. Open Control panel -> click on Mouse . It will display Mouse Properties dialog box.
2. Under Mouse properties Window click the Device Settings tab
3. Click on Device Settings -> Settings button. This will display the Properties for Synaptics TouchPad on PS/2 port.

4. Follow the steps below to enable the Tapping Feature :

Highlight Tapping in the Left hand side , and Check the Enable tapping in the Right hand box .

5. Follow the steps below to enable Scroll feature:

Highlight Virtual Scrolling in the Left hand side and Check both the boxes in the right hand side.
6. Click OK .
Alternatively you can anble scrolling by reinstalling touchpad driver.

The tap feature on my synaptics touchpad has quite working three times, gateway fixed it once, I restored to a prior date one time later to fix the problem, and now I have the problem again. I tried...

Both the tap and scroll features are configurable as to speed.
Try changing their configurations.
The tap has a delay setting, and the scroll setting is for distance.

You would need to uninstall the Synaptics driver, then reinstall them. To uninstall, you can go to the Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs. To reinstall, you will need to find the install files, hopefully they are on your system. It may also be possible to download them from the HP site. If you are unable to find them, here is a link for the generic Synaptic drivers:
